Misoprostol after D&C

Hi, I don’t know if anyone has had a similar experience who can help.

I recently had a MMC after IVF treatment. I opted for a D&C which was the 12th of August. Unfortunately, I found out yesterday that I have RPOC. I opted to have Misoprostol (which was 4 tablets orally), to pass the remaining tissue. Having read all the stories online, I was expecting heavy bleeding and cramping yesterday. However, all I’ve had is some small bleeding on wiping and a very very small amount on a pad. I did, however, pass something which measured roughly what they told me the remaining tissue measured. So I’m praying that that was it.

But I’m just concerned that I’ve had no cramping and no real bleeding. Is this normal? Is it because I’ve already had a D&C, and do we think that it’s worked?

I’m sure you can all relate, but this has been such a drawn out process and I just want it all to be over now.

My medical miscarriage (about 8 weeks pregnant, foetus dies at 6 weeks) sounds similar.

I was expecting a huge amount of pain and blood but it was more like a regular period and a few clots plus what I assume was the embryo. I was surprised it was very smooth and painless.

I had the drugs yesterday (MMC, 1st IVF cycle) and my goodness me, I am traumatised. It was horrific. Severe cramps and contractions for over 10hrs. Started bleeding heavily this morning.

Hooefully where you had a D&C only minimal tissue needed to come away.
