Just wondering if anyone has been through anything similar as I’m so confused…
I’ve had 3 previous early miscarriages, all around the 6 week mark. The 3rd one was tested and chromosomes were found to be normal.
Fell pregnant for 4th time and had an early scan 6 weeks from my last period where they said they could see a sac/yolk sac measuring around 5 weeks. Had another scan 2 weeks later where they said there was the start of a fetal pole (CRL 4mm) but no heartbeat so was inconclusive and said to come back in another 2 weeks for a re-scan.
This was very similar to my previous miscarriage so I just knew it wasn’t good news and I started brown spotting on and off, and was expecting I’d probably miscarry before the next scan.
The bleeding turned red yesterday and my 3rd scan was due today so when I went in I told them what had happened and that I expected this scan to confirm miscarriage.
They then said that the CRL had grown to 4.7mm since my last scan but still no heartbeat. They also then asked if anyone at my previous scans had mentioned a second sac and showed me the screen where there was a second (empty) sac - this had never been mentioned to me before so I was quite shocked.
I have to go back for another scan in a week’s time as they still can’t confirm a miscarriage if the CRL is less than 7mm but there has been growth since the last scan.
I’m just confused as there’s no hope that things can be ok for the sac with the embryo if the CRL is 4.7mm when I’m 10-11 weeks from my last period, but I don’t understand how there has been small growth since the last scan with no heartbeat ever seen.
I also don’t understand how the 2nd sac had never been spotted on any of the previous 2 scans.
I’m not really expecting any answers from here just wondering if anyone had been through something similar as it just doesn’t make any sense to me.
