hi all

i had a miscarriage at 9 weeks and a d&c on the 13th of June. I had spotting on and off for about 2 weeks and 4 days.
I started tracking opk and had positive tests between the 30th and the 8th of july. Negative opk tests after the 9th of july.
During that week i had 2 very strong tests. I am still testing positive but vvvvfl and we have been having unprotected sex.

my question is when would be the best time to test for a new pregnancy? since i dont know when my period in suppose to arrive and my period before were irregular

You should definitely wait till you've got a totally negative test before TTC again. The point of a negative test is to confirm there's nothing left from your miscarriage (which would obviously interfere with a new pregnancy).

Since you've already had unprotected sex, I would be testing almost every day to check that the test went from vvvvfl to totally negative. Then test on 14DPO or even later so you don't start with a vvvvfl and have to wait to see if it gets darker.

I'm so sorry about your miscarriage and I totally sympathise with wanting to get pregnant straight away. I was so chilled about TTC and after my first miscarriage TTC totally consumed my life. But waiting is honestly safer!

Sorry to hear about your MC. Mine was around a week and a half ago, I’m hoping to avoid a d&c but can’t rule it out until I’ve taken a test. The dr I saw recommended waiting 3 weeks before testing and then getting in contact if even a hint of a positive. Otherwise at that point we’re free to ttc again even if AF has not come back. I don’t know what the advice is following the d&c, but if you aren’t waiting for AF to show then a negative test would be helpful just to avoid the is it old or new pregnancy confusion.

That being said I understand why you’re so keen to get going again and fingers crossed the vfl is a new sticky pregnancy for you🤞

thank you !

@CrazyKJ
i also hope the very faint line is something new.
i have had a positive test for the last 4 weeks. Having a miscarriage is so difficult and stressful, especially after a d&c with not knowing where your cycle is.
i have had 3 healthy pregnancies prior so this is all new to me.
we want to start TTC again right away as i feel ready mentally and physically.
the reason for the d&c was i that the baby heartbeat stopped a few days prior to my scan at 9 weeks and 4 days. we went for a d&c as it would be easier and less painful to deal with as i also have 3 children at home to still care for.

hoping everything goes well with you also and don't stress if you need a d&c . it was very straightforward

The advice I was given was to wait until after 1 period post surgical management. This was so that it would be easier to date the next pregnancy if you were to get pregnant right after.
I have regular cycles, have had 4 surgical management of miscarriage, and my period has come back 5-6 weeks later each time (normal cycle would be 4 weeks) so it was a little longer than normal.

I waited until 10 weeks without a period, I was 7.5 weeks when I found out I was pregnant. I had a faint positive 2 weeks after my miscarriage and a negative test 3 weeks after my miscarriage so I knew any positive was going to be a new pregnancy however. I would have tested after about 6 weeks but I was going through redundancy and didn't want to know.
I was quite glad when I got the scan at the epu that I had skipped a few weeks of the early trimester. I had started to get some nausea, I had been banking on nausea telling me I was pregnant as my sickness with my daughter and miscarriages started between 4 and 6 weeks and by 7 weeks I was usually incapacitated but this pregnancy has been very different!

@Moosey898
My cycle have always been irregular but mostly 30 days. I have never had issues falling pregnant. My miscarriage symptoms were very different to my other healthy pregnancies. It was very intense and very early symptoms from 4 weeks.
We're I would usually get symptoms after 6-7 weeks.

@Superscientist
Wonderful!
I am now 30 days past d&c . Still no period! I have been tracking hcg with tests. My test today was darker than all of them them. Which I am taking as a good sign. I will keep checking and tomorrow will go for a blood test to see where my levels are.
I would of thought it would of hit 0 by now
