hi all!!

i unfortunately had a loss at 9 weeks and went on to have a d&c.
my question is how long does a period take to come? And if anyone has gone through something similar when did you start trying again?
should we wait a few cycles? its my first loss and so confused about it all

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've had 4 missed miscarriages, all between 8-11 weeks. My period has come back between 5-6 weeks later for all of them. There's no need to wait to try again - the doctors prefer you to wait until after your period comes back because it can make dating the pregnancy easier, but you can ovulate and get pregnant again with no additional risk before your period returns. I've started trying again each time after my period came back because I didn't want the uncertainty around dating if I were to conceive before my period was back.

I’m sorry for your loss. We were ‘meant’ to wait until I’d had a period but I actually fell pregnant again at around the six week mark the first time we’d had sex after the d&c. So I’d say just see how you feel and there’s no rules to follow.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my first pregnancy at just before 6 weeks, and my period has just started 4 weeks later. We were waiting for this first period and then will try again. I understand your confusion, there are so many emotions around it all, and there's a lot of information out there, it can be overwhelming.

Thank you for your responses. This would of been my 4th pregnancy. Never had any issues before so this all feels new to me. I was told yo wait 3 cycles and then try again but after reading online it said so many other information like trying before or after your first cycle. I have the fear of going through another miscarriage but I also don't want to waist time
