Bleeding/Pain at 5 weeks but cervix closed?

Hi I’m hoping to get a little advice or shared experiences.

im currently 5 weeks pregnant, last night through the night I woke up with a stabbing pain in my belly which only lasted a minute or 2, then I woke up to spotting. Called my EPU and they booked me in for a scan at 6 weeks.

My bleeding got heavier (fresh blood when I go to the toilet) and I had cramping so went to hospital where they did bloods and a cervical exam. She said my cervix is closed and booked back in in a few days to see if my hcg has doubled. She said it’s a threatened miscarriage but i was just wondering if anyone else has gone though this?

I thought your cervix had to be open to be miscarrying, could it just be that my cervix hasn’t opened yet?

I also had a missed miscarriage earlier this year and was really hopeful that I wouldn’t have another😢😢

Hi, no problem at all. Unfortunately it ended in a miscarriage, my levels of HCG dropped by half in 2 days. I did pass a few clots tho the day before I went back for my bloods. Honestly I wouldn’t worry too much though, about half of threatened miscarriage end in a healthy pregnancy

Hi Ruby, sorry you went through that, but I really, really appreciate your reply. My blood levels are quite low so I’m not holding out much hope but just wanted to hear others experiences.
