How soon after a miscarriage should I try to conceive?

Hi there. So I recently lost my baby at 8weeks. I have 2 children and have never had a miscarriage before. Myself and my husband are obviously heartbroken 💔 I'm definitely open for trying again as I'm not getting any younger and it took 7 months to conceive this one but I'm worried about when is the right time to do it?
Anyone been through this and csn share their experiences?

Xx

I was a little earlier than you were when I miscarried baby number 2 but tried again 'straight away'. After the miscarriage, I ovulated a couple of weeks later and fell pregnant again that cycle. That baby stuck (I now have an energetic 2 year old) so the pregnancies close together were fine 🫶🏻

I had retained products so I was advised to wait one cycle before trying again. The period cleared the products. It also helps date it easier if you wait til after your next period.

I had a miscarriage at a similar stage. I was told to wait a month - ie to have one period - then try again. The idea is to let your womb have its own 'clear out' and let your hormones settle down again. This was over 20 years ago, I don't know whether the advice has changed or not, but it seems sensible to me. I'm sorry for your loss and send you best wishes for your next pregnancy x

I am sorry to hear of your mc. I was told to wait until I stop bleeding but I actually waited until after my first periods.

Thank you everyone. I would like to get my next period out of the way and try and get my cycle back to normal. We had a scan week and half ago that told us the baby had no heartbeat then that evening I passed it. The weekend before the scan I had started to bleed and knew deep down what was happening. After the baby passed (which was awful as even at 8weeks it had a nose/mouth/feet etc and seeing it has made this whole process a lot harder) I carried on bleeding but more a light period which has now virtually stopped. Me and hubby haven't dtd since conception as I was worried about bleeding and just wanted to wait until scan but last night we did. My pregnancy test that the hospital wanted me to take is still showing slightly positive. But this morning my opk test I did out of curiosity as I'm jot bleeding is also not quite positive but how it looks before I do hit ovulation so I've no idea where I'm upto 🙄

@tillybud89 I am so sorry to hear your news. I also just had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. This is for our first baby and the cycle before I also had an early loss at more like 4-5 weeks. For me I feel like I just want to start trying as soon as possible as it will help me heal. Especially as I haven't had any babies yet. I think doctors recommend having a least one period for dating reasons but I'm not sure I can even wait that long as for me the wait between conceiving and 12 weeks is painful so I just want to get things going again..
The whole thing has been incredibly traumatic and I also decided the natural route so saw things I think a mother should never have to see, it's really tough.
best of luck to you.

It's heartbreaking isn't it. I'm so sorry for your losses ❤️

Yes apparently my period can take upto 4/6 weeks to arrive but will ovulate before then so we've decided to just keep going as we were and if It happens it happens. It's only been 2 weeks since I lost my baby. Then yesterday my gorgeous little cavapoo who was 10 had a seizure and passed away. Feel life is just so messed up right now 😪

@tillybud89 Oh my god that is awful I am so sorry. I have a dog too and couldn't imagine that loss at the same time as going through this. The baby you are meant to have will come soon, and once you have that child you will love them so much and realise that if you didn't go through this then you wouldn't have them. Everything happens for a reason and it's natures way ❤️

@RoseWinso will be 3 week's on Monday since the miscarriage. The last few days I've started to feel slightly more positive and optimistic ✨️ I'm desperate to start ovulating again nut so far my ovulation sticks so so faint so I'm no where near. If anything I feel slightly like I do before a period. X x

@tillybud89 I'm the exact same! Mine was a week ago now and the only thing getting me through it is the idea of getting pregnant again. Don't think I can bare to miss a chance in this cycle even though doctors say to wait a month but I think that's only for the sake of dating. I'm still testing quite positive on pregnancy tests and I read that if you still have hcg in your system it will stop your cycle from starting and will delay ovulation, so it's actually best to calculate ovulation 14 days from when you test negative on a pregnancy test. Are you testing negative yet? Hopefully should be soon at 3 weeks! If you're planning to try again this cycle then best of luck, I think we can stay positive by thinking we are lucky that we can get pregnant and stastically the next pregnancy is more likely to be successful than not! X

I'm honestly so impatient haha doesn't help that everyone like oooo keep trying your so fertile now.
We're decorating the lounge today as got new sofas coming soon so keeping me busy at least. Tested positive on pregnancy test week after been told to do another tomorrow so hopefully that should be negative so which I think it now it will be so I'm hoping that next week I'll start ovulation 🤞🏻
I'll keep you posted and you keep me. Really helps when can go through it with someone whose in the same boat ❤️
