Hello, I don't know if anyone else can share their experiences on the subject

We have recently had IVF and had a recent positive test,

We went for our 7 weeks scan today, heartbeat has been detected with no worries there however the scan is showing growth of 5 weeks. They also advise the yolk sac is showing larger than baby at the moment

We have a scan booked in for next week to see any growth however could potentially lead to misscariage.

I'm in absolute turmoil with worry and having to wait a week is unbearable

Should I be preparing for the worse or could they catch up with in a week

Any advise or experiences would be greatly welcomed

Thank you

are you 7 weeks LMP, 5 weeks since conception? Are the doctors worried?

Thank you for your reply, they have said I'm exactly 7 weeks and 3 days yesterday but growth was showing around 5 weeks, sorry I'm not sure if it's different to IVF with LMP , she didn't give us specifics measurements etc just said heart rate was there and good which we also saw on the screen. She also mentioned about the yolk sac being bigger which you don't want. She didn't really say to much other than giving us a sympathising look which worried me however she just said they can grow but also can lead to a misscarriage, I just feel absolutely hopeless at the moment and unsure what is going to happen. It has taken us 3 years to get to the point so I'm beyond heartbroken at the moment , thanks again for reply

This happened to me last year and it did not end happily. Also IVF so we knew the exact dates etc. Really hope it turns out differently for you xx

At this stage, honestly, nobody knows and it could go either way. I sympathise, it's really, really tough, my children are IVF conceived so I've been where you are. With my eldest, I went for my viability scan and there was no heartbeat and the embryo was measuring bigger than it should. I was advised to prepare myself and to stop progesterone so that I'd naturally pass it. I had to go back a week later for a rescan to review if I needed any further intervention. My daughter is now 3!! She was also conceived using a 'non viable embryo' making it all theore remarkable. It was the longest and hardest week of my life though expecting to physically lose the closest I'd come at that point to a baby, which was so desperately wanted. When I went back to try for a sibling they still talked about that original viability scan and how it demonstrates that truly anything can happen.
