TW: Periods after M/C

Hi all. I'm hoping someone else has experienced this and can reassure me it's normal because I'm starting to think something is wrong.

I had a M/C in February, wasn't straight forward and ended up needing an MVA after 4 days in hospital.

My first period came as normal and was fine, albeit a couple of days longer.

I'm now having my second period however and I'm currently on day 19 and it's not showing any signs of stopping, in fact it's getting worse.

Saw nurse on Friday at my GP who said if it still hasn't stopped after another week, to go back but I can't see it stopping.

Just feeling pretty rubbish now tbh. It's pretty heavy and with clots, tmi sorry. Infact I don't think it was even this bad during my M/C.

Just after reassurance really that this might be normal or whether maybe it could be retained products or an infection and when to worry.

Thank you. x

The first period after a miscarriage can be longer and heavier, but I would be going back to the GP tomorrow I think. Heavy with clots for 19 days doesn’t sound right, especially as it’s getting worse - bleeding getting heavier rather than lighter was the symptom I had of a post-miscarriage infection which is maybe unlikely for you given it was a couple of months ago, but it getting heavier was a sign to the dr that something wasn’t right.

Thank you. This is my second period. The first was actually fairly normal.

Yeah I was a bit worried it could be an infection but they did my temp etc and all fine. Did you have any other symptoms?

I had a slightly off odour the first week but it seemed to settle but maybe there is a slight infection there.

I think I will go back. Thank you.

No, I didn’t have any other symptoms. They diagnosed me based on a swab they took because of my bleeding.
