Miscarriage and sertraline

Hi all,

Was after some advice please. I experienced a very sad MMC last week, the baby stopped growing at 8 weeks, and prior to this I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks.

I am 39 (40 soon) and my partner and I are desperate to be parents and want to do everything. My question is, I am on 150mg sertraline and have been for some time, has anyone else got experience of being on this dosage and things being ok? I would love to try and reduce my dosage but I know that it's not something that can be done quickly anyway, and my partner and I are keen to TTC again at some point.

Thank you for listening, and it would be great to hear from anyone in similar position re SSRI's x

Firstly, i am so sorry for your loss. Mothertobaby.org has some really easy to read factsheets on medications in pregnancy. Sertraline is absolutely not associated with an increased risk of miscarriage. Can you see if there is a Perinatal Mental Health team at the hospital where you plan on having your baby? Some teams will offer pre-conception advise (this differs from place to place) which might give you some reassurance. But i have known lots and lots of women on sertraline (and other antidepressants) who go on to have healthy pregnancies. Best of luck to you.

Great advice from @FoFanta.
So sorry for your losses, OP. I had 3 MMCs but went on to have my two beautiful children without any issues.

100mg sertraline and 150mg of lamotragine. Conceived two children. One took 9 months the second took 18 months.
