Hello, I’m looking for woman who have been put on progesterone and or low dose aspirin to support their pregnancy following pregnancy loss. We had a very early loss at 5 weeks followed by a loss at 12 weeks, and these are the steps that my healthcare team are considering taking for us next time. What was your experience with this? Did you have side effects, do you feel they did the trick? Love to you all, J x

I had progesterone suppositories & low dose aspirin due to a multiples pregnancy which threatened early labour from 24 weeks exactly. I had no side effects, however using the suppositories was slightly undignified as what goes up must also come down. Wishing you all the best xxx

I tried baby aspirin after my MMC and first Chemical but to no avail, another Chemical. That said, my consultant wants me to stay on it, as he says it's good for blood flow. Goid luck with your next try x

Hi, sorry for your losses. I had two myself, one at 8 weeks and one at 6 weeks and in my next pregnancy was put on progesterone pessaries and aspirin from 5 weeks. Both have worked well and I’ve had a healthy pregnancy x

@Jennyftb I hope you dont mind me saying this and I have been thinking about your post above so I felt that I should say what's on my mind, in case it is helpful to you in any way.
I am interested in why they think your progesterone levels are low. If both your losses had been early or even around the same time I would have to think that may be a consideration but the fact that you had one at 5 weeks, followed by one at 12 weeks raises the question for me of how your progesterone level might have dropped to cause a loss early in your first pregnancy and yet stayed high enough for you to maintain the second pregnancy for considerably longer. I would have thought the losses might have occurred around the same time if progesterone was the issue.
I'm no expert though, just my thoughts.
Not sure if your 12 week loss was a MMC or whether it was a conventional miscarriage, either way, you have all my sympathy for both losses and I hope the treatment works for you x

Hey @Objectiontime , so I don’t actually think my progesterone is low. It was a suggestion made at the hospital and by my midwife in a follow up appointment that I might benefit from progesterone to help support the lining of my uterus in the event of another SCH. My 12 week loss was a MMC and although we won’t ever know, they did have concerns that the SCH played a part in the loss. The baby’s heart stopped at 9 and a half ish weeks, following a scan that showed a heartbeat at 9 + 3. I think my healthcare providers are just looking to air on the side of caution xxx

Ah that makes sense. I will be on progesterone too when I next get a positive.

@Objectiontime Are you TTC just now? I’m testing LH every day but it’s only been 2 weeks since my loss so I’m not expecting to see anything soon x

I am, I just got my LH surge so about to ovulate, hopefully. My first loss was an MMC at 12 weeks, embryo was only 6 weeks. What a xxxxxx shock that was!! It too my cycle 6 weeks to return after surgery to remove the oregnancy tissue. Then I had a chemical in the spring of last year. God a positive but the lines just got lighter and I started bleeding at what would have been exactly five weeks. Then, in the Autumn I had a good string positive, checked in a couple of days later, still there and thought I would do a final test to days after that and the positive had completely disappeared, not a hint, stark white. I started bleeding the following day. I know it was a positive because it was a dark line and I had my HCG checked at the EPU. It was very low though.

Objectiontime · 19/04/2025 20:16

I also meant to say I ovulated about 4 weeks from each of my chemicals so it did take a bit longer even with early losses

Jennyftb · 22/04/2025 15:45

@Objectiontime good luck you’ll need to come back and let us know if you get a positive this cycle! 🥰 chemicals are just as upsetting as anything else it’s the disappointment that I found really hard to deal with. My LH tests are looking slightly darker today and yesterday so I’ll take a digital in the morning and go from there but I’m not expecting anything to happen really before I get a period, which is fine, I’m just impatient😅😅

I will let you know. It’s weird but I feel I am getting used to the negative HCGs. Hopefully I will get a pleasant surprise soon and then start worrying about whether my medications will do the job. Its a hard game to win really. Glad your OKPs are getting better. Fingers crossed you will peek soon.

Jennyftb · 26/04/2025 10:24

@Objectiontime i got my peak today. Quite surprised actually. It’s been exactly 3 weeks since I miscarried. You must be close to being able to test now are you?

Oh fantastic news. Fingers crossed for you. I am probably not going to test too early. I have to take prednisone from ovulation and stop if I'm not pregnant. If I test too early I could get a false negative so I will probably test when my period is due, which will be at least another week. Last month I tested in the morning and it started a couple of hours after so that was a waste of an FRER but I will see how I feel.

Laurabeee · 29/04/2025 09:32

I had three miscarriages in 2022. No cause found. In January 2023 I had another positive test with no bleeding and started progesterone for 12 weeks. I had an easy but anxious pregnancy and had a baby in September 2023. Tried again June 2024 and had progesterone again and now have another baby. I feel that progesterone definitely helped me but it’s one of these things that you never know for sure.

Summersun91 · 29/04/2025 13:19

Hello

Progesterone may have worked for me as well (or could be coincidence!).
I had a

  • MMC where baby stopped growing at 6 weeks.
  • successful pregnancy where I took progesterone from 4.5 weeks
  • MMC where baby stopped growing at 6 weeks (no progesterone, I had completely forgotten about it)
  • current pregnancy I am 16 weeks and have been taking progesterone since 4.5 weeks

Also worth noting that between the first 2 pregnancies I did have the day 21 blood test at the GP which I believe tests progesterone and this came back normal.

I hope it helps for you. Best of luck x

My fingers are crossed for you!! It’s such a long wait is it! I’m 2DPO and no idea how I’m getting through the next 2 weeks😂
