Bleeding 7 weeks pregnant

Hi everyone,

I had an early private scan on Sunday the 30th. The sonographer was happy with the baby's heartbeat and yolk sac. I thought I was 7+3 from my last period, but she measured me at 6+5.

Thursday evening, I experienced very light bleeding, not enough to wear a pad, and it was very watery, mainly when I wiped. Yesterday, I noticed the bleeding hadn’t changed but was still there, so my GP referred me to the early pregnancy assessment unit at my local hospital for an appointment today at 15:30.

This morning, I have woken up with a heavier bleed in my underwear and a dark blood clot. I’m in no pain and haven’t experienced any period-like cramps. The bleeding just appears to be heavier.

Has anybody else experienced something similar to this and had a positive pregnancy outcome? I’m not getting my hopes up and am preparing myself for the worst, but I’m interested if anyone has been through something similar and managed a successful pregnancy.

I had a smear back in January, and the doctor noticed a large cervical ectropion. On Sunday, the sonographer noticed I had an endometriotic cyst (chocolate cyst) on my right ovary.

I had a similar bleed (albeit minus the clot) at 6 weeks + 4 and I’m currently sat cuddling my 13 week old. I had suspected cervical ectropion (they couldn’t see anything but that’s what they put it down to eventually) and bled on and off throughout my whole pregnancy. I was put on progesterone from 16-34 weeks and delivered a healthy baby girl at 39 weeks. I was absolutely terrified for the first half of the pregnancy and thought the worst, but I kind of got used to the bleeding and just knew our little girl was okay (I still got checked over every time though). Wishing you lots of luck today and hoping it is a positive outcome for you too.

I had bleeding for at least the first ten weeks of pregnancy and then another bleed at 15 weeks. The bleeding wasn't enough to soak a pad but bright red on wiping. It can be quite common but I know how worrying it is. My DD is now 17 months old and once the bleeding stopped I had a very easy, problem free pregnancy. Good luck for the scan, hopefully all will be ok. It's reassuring you've already had a scan and everything was ok.
