No fetal pole

Hi all, I had a scan yesterday after ivf. I was 6 weeks, 4 days. The gestational sac and yolk sac were seen but no fetal pole. My msd was only 6mm aswell and the clinic said that would expect it to be much bigger at this time. I have to wait 2 weeks for a scan at the epu and it’s absolutely torture. Has this happened to anyone else?

You don't have to wait two weeks for a scan at EPU. You can pay for a private scan in a couple of days to see if there is growth. You can also get blood tests for your HCG levels, as you know they should be doubling. I hope that things do go in the right direction for you x

I'm sorry you are going through this OP. When I had IVF, they didn't do a viability scan till 8 weeks, so I'm surprised yours did it at only 6 weeks. Was this scan done at the fertility clinic? Did they mention doing hCG blood tests to check the levels are rising?

In the previous pregnancy to the IVF one, I had a scan at 6 weeks due to 1 sided pain. There was only a sac and they said 1mm a day was usual growth, but after a week, mine had only grown 3 mm. I had a MC a few weeks later.

Hopefully things are ok OP x

Thanks for replying. Yeh it was done at the fertility clinic. I had hcg blood tests done a few weeks ago and they did double. I had abit of bleeding so they brought me in for tests and then the scan yesterday. It’s just so bloody hard. Think I’m ready to give up on my fertility journey. This is my 4th ivf cycle :(

@Dodeedoo I’m so sorry, I hope you had the best outcome? I had a viability scan last week at 6 weeks 1 day because of spotting and previous ectopic pregnancy. We found a sac and yolk sac but measured a week behind with no fetal pole. I have a retroverted uterus and they struggled to get any clear imaging. Also said there may be a fetal pole but the flickering was most likely from my uterus which was spasming at the time. Spotting and measuring behind when I know my ovulation/conception date isn’t filling me with much hope. I can’t get a scan for another week, This journey is so so hard! I’ve already had 2 losses prior to this (medicated cycles).
