7w2d measuring 5w6d and slow heartbeat

Hi, I’m having IVF as a solo mum and I had my viability scan this week at 7w2d. As it’s an IVF pregnancy there should be no doubt over the gestational age but the foetus was only measuring at 5w6d and had a slow heartbeat. The CRL was 2.5mm when it would be approx. 11mm.

I’m booked for another scan in a weeks time but just wondered if anyone has any stories similar to this (positive or negative) because I’m swinging between “I’m absolutely going to lose my baby” to “the sonographer might have got it wrong”

Also should add no pain or bleeding but not much in the way of pregnancy symptoms either.

I do but unfortunately it’s not positive. I was almost exactly the same measurements when I was scanned at 7w5d and I was certain of my dates. They kept telling me I must be wrong and be further behind than I thought. It was a private scan so I asked my NHS midwife at 8w6d if I should be concerned, she said no and they shouldn’t try to measure that early and if I saw a heartbeat it was okay. I had no bleeding or pain until the day I miscarried at 11w0d, but on reflection I think my symptoms had started to ease of about a week or two before. They suspect the baby stopped growing a few weeks early but they didn’t manage to scan until after so they could only go off the amount of pregnancy tissue as I was in hospital.

I sincerely hope you have a more positive outcome, wishing you all the luck ♥️

Thank you for your reply @lollypops2303and I’m so sorry for your loss.

My gut feeling is this will go a similar way for me too 💔

I’m sorry OP, it’s unlikely to be positive especially with the slow heartbeat, been there 🙁. I went on to have my daughter after two consecutive miscarriages. Wish you all the best ♥️

So sorry you're going through this. Unfortunately with the slow heartbeat the most likely outcome isn't a positive one. I did a lot of reading when I had a similar situation and all the scientific journals say it's not good. Thinking of you x
