Have I miscarried?

Warning!!! GRAPHIC PHOTO!!!
Hi first time posting on here as I could do with some second opinions.

the first day of my last period was 18/01. So should have been around 5 weeks pregnant if we go off the first day off last period. I had 2 positive pregnancy tests on 23rd feb and 25th feb (morning) by the evening of 25th I had noticed abit of brown blood not much (spotting) about a hour or 2 later more blood which was now red in colour and lots of tiny clots- not much pain at all. I woke at 5am of the 26th and noticed a big clot went into the toilet ( I tried to get it out so I could see if it was a miscarriage or not). I will upload the photo. (Sorry)
all day 26th I had cramping and pain but not too bad. I’ve been bleeding since but again not too much. I’m now having slight pain but abit on the left side.

I called early pregnancy unit on the morning of the suspected miscarriage and they said I would be about 5 weeks and they don’t really see anyone under 6 weeks. I’m now at a loss as what to do. I want a scan to see if I have miscarried and if I have I want to be sure everything is out and not an ectopic or something. I’m going to phone my gp on Monday to see if I can get a scan through them.

for some reason I’m worried about ectopic can someone reassure me that this is a miscarriage and not an ectopic pregnancy. If so, does it look like it’s all out?

sorry for the photos and thank you for reading x

I'm so sorry, can you go A&E and check? Or book a private scan? If you do a test as well maybe. I'm
Not so sure I just didn't want to read and run. Hugs xx

I would also like to say I have never miscarried before and I had to have a surgical abortion (dilation and evacuation in January last year at 15 weeks for baby medical reasons) I haven’t felt quite right since- pain and bloating around ovulation (never had that before) so I’m wondering if the miscarriage is down to that? Has anyone else experienced a miscarriage after surgical abortion?

I'm so sorry you’re going through this OP. Your best option is ringing the early pregnancy unit again and just highlighting your concerns and any symptoms , if you’re still bleeding or have pain it’s important to highlight this. Unfortunately it’s very unlikely that they would scan you so early on. Urine tests at home will still read as positive as your HCG levels won’t have dropped. 🌺

Thank you for your message. I really appreciate the reply. Going to call 111 and see if I should go a&e or wait for gp on Monday. The photos I’ve seen of miscarriages they look abit grey in colour (inside). But maybe they were further along than me so maybe that’s why I didn’t notice that.

Hey, I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

It’s difficult to say in relation to the larger clot. I had medical management for miscarriage for retained products and lost some clots of a similar size, but these weren’t actually the retained product they were just blood clots and more lining (which also looked similar the the smaller clots you have passed when I was loosing smaller amounts). I know this as the medical management failed and when I was scanned again the retained products were still there, so I had to have surgical removal in the end. So it could be the baby, it could your lining or it could be something else and the baby may be fine still.

I would certainly look to attend EPU if they will see you over A&E, as they don’t have the facilities to diagnose ectopic and typically would refer you to EPU anyway if it isn’t suspected rupture. The other option is to see your GP and have them refer you to EPU if they won’t take a self referral. I would suspect if you mention the pain though they should see you. I’ve never had an ectopic but was referred for checking and before 6 weeks they won’t scan, it’s a series of blood tests to look at what your HCG levels are doing. I think ectopic bleeding typically looks different to what you have passed as I was referred for brown ‘old blood’ spotting and similar LH pain. I’m sorry again you’re going through this, it’s a horrible experience and awful to feel like you don’t know what’s going on in your own body! Take good care of yourself.

Hi OP, I have had an ectopic and if you suspect it could be this definitely push to be seen. My first symptoms were one sided tummy pain which came and went it felt like a stitch, consisent bleeding (it wasnt very heavy although I did pass small clots and some grey tissue) it was around 6wks they finally saw pregnancy in my tube and my hcg was slow rising / felt dizzy and shoulder tip pain. So sorry you're going through this, mention the pain to EPU and I'm sure they will see you x
