Miscarriage at 13 weeks

Hi Everyone
I have used mumsnet for so many things pregnancy related to read advice and never did I think I would be using it to write this.
Sadly I have miscarried our second child, I just knew something wasn’t right and went in for scan at 16 weeks to be told we lost the baby at 13 weeks.
the whole process that followed has been the most traumatic experience and worst time of our lives.
I had to have the medical staged abortion with tablets and pressary. This was traumatic enough but then the placenta was retained and I had to go to theatre. I lost 2 L of blood and had 2 blood transfusions. I am so so grateful to be back home and be with our daughter. I just wanted to see if anyone has sadly had the same experience as I just can’t believe how awful the medical process.

@Gemjune So very sorry you have joined those of us on here who have also had this horrendous experience. I lost my first pregnancy to a missed miscarriage. Went for my scan at 12 weeks, looking forward to having a picture of our first baby and low and behold I find I have joined the ranks of the incredibly unlucky few who go for their 12 week scan and discover that there is to be no baby. My embryo had not made it past six weeks. We were devestated, I had never heard of such a thing. I had to have counciling and my mother is still having counciling!! The pain was and still is unbearable at times. I have still not had a successful pregnancy and this was well over a year ago but I am hopeful.
I had surgical management for my MMC and struggled more emotionally than physically. It is a dreadful thing to happen but test assured you are far from alone. There have been quite a number of us on here over the past year, sadly. Sending you hugs and best wishes for a good recovery.

So sorry to hear this. I miscarried at 12 weeks - passed the placenta 2 weeks later. Lost the baby at home and buried it in the garden as it was Covid snd they wouldn't see me in the hospital, still the most traumatic thing I've ever been through. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

@Objectiontime thank you for your reply and so sorry for your loss and experience. We had IVF after many years of trying to then have our miracle baby. We had one embryo left and this was our second chance for another miracle. I understand how hard it is to keep trying and now sadly experience miscarriage. I really hope you get your miracle baby soon x
