I am writing this in the hope that someone has experienced something similar...
At 8 weeks I experienced a large gush of blood, then spotting on and off throughout the next day but no clots. Went for a scan on day 3 of the bleeding and the consultant confirmed that the baby was actually fine with a heartbeat and measuring the right size etc. She didn't seem concerned at all. I was so surprised but happy. I was prescribed progesterone (as I'd had a previous m/c at 6 weeks) that I started taking that day... The consultant did say that they thought there could be two, but then decided she couldn't see twins?!
The day after the scan I stayed in bed but the bleeding continued on and off (dark red mostly, with no clots). All of a sudden that afternoon I started bleeding heavily for an hour. So much that I almost went to a&e. When it seemed like the bleeding had finally tapered off, I went to the toilet where I passed some dark red tissue. Shortly after this I felt another gush and went back to the toilet, where it felt like I was giving birth... There was a big splash, but because of all of the blood I didn't get to see anything. It seems like this was a miscarriage, as after this the bleeding has nearly gone.
I can't go back to EPU until Weds, as they won't do two scans in a week...
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? It's such a shock as everything seemed fine with the scan 2 days ago when the bleeding had already begun...
