How did you feel physically after passing RPOC?

Hi,

I had an MMC treated with a D&C in September, at 12 weeks pregnant. Had faint positive tests until November, and a HCG level of around 17, so was referred for a TVU - which did not find any retained products - and was told HCG was just slow to decline.

Periods and ovulation have been normal since the D&C with no irregular bleeding. I finally had stark white negative pregnancy tests in December.

During my last period over New Year, I had very painful cramps out of the blue (similar to the miscarriage pain) and passed a lump of tissue on 2nd Jan - assuming this was RPOC. After passing the tissue my cramps stopped and period finished as normal.

I have an appointment next week (14th Jan) for a vaginal exam with the GP, and have been referred for another ultrasound (but no appointment as yet).

Since this passed, my uterus has felt sort of heavy/full - it’s hard to describe as it’s not pain, just a bit achey and stretchy, similar to ovulation pain (and not constantly, just sporadically). No bleeding, no unusual discharge.

I will of course flag this at my appointment with the GP, but I wanted to know if this was typical following the passing of RPOC? Did you feel a bit achey and tender for a while, or did you snap back to normal? Should I expect to feel a bit unusual until my next period? Does it sound like your experience if you had an infection/complications?

Thank you for any help provided - I’ve not been able to find any physical updates AFTER passing RPOC to compare my experience with. This experience has been going on for nearly 5 months, so just want it to end.

I'm sorry for you loss Flowers
I was 12 weeks and had medical management. I ended up bleeding for 12 weeks, yes, 3mths! I wasn't on MN then and was living/working abroad, so had no close friends to ask what was normal. I wasn't even told to do a pregnancy test after x weeks post the MC!

Finally, the bleeding stopped for 2 weeks. I then an episode where I got a terribly sharp, pulling, dragging pain. I squatted down in pain and thought I might faint. It passed within 30secs and I thought nothing more. A few days later, me period started, the 1st one since the MC, and the next day of bleeding, out came a RPOC!

I was given oral antibiotics and another scan to check for more. I had a fairly normal period and my cycle returned to normal. I don't recall any heaviness you describe. I do have some tiny fibroids, and pregnancy hormones affects those and they can grow/shrink with the hormones and can cause pain. The shrinking of the uterus can also cause pulling/heavy feelings. I hope all goes well at your appointment x
