Positive 3 weeks after D&C?

Hi all. I had a D&C on 4 December due to a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks, baby was only measuring 6 weeks. It’s been 19 days since and I’m still getting positives albeit very faint. If it’s still positive after 3 weeks I need to let the hospital know and go back for a scan.
The pregnancy test that the hospital gave me is showing as negative however my cheap tests are showing a very faint positive and have been for nearly a week (all look the same). What would you do in my situation? Let the hospital know if I still have the very faint positives on my own tests or accept it’s negative on the test they gave me and move on?

Hello, so sorry you’re going through this. I had a MMC on 25th November. My cheap pregnancy tests remained faintly positive and I called at 3 weeks for them to tell me it’s really common and retest in another week. That takes me to today and I’ve got my first negative now. If the test they gave you was negative and you’re feeling well then unlikely it’s any retained products and I’d imagine if would fade with time. You could always call them if you’re unsure. 💙

I am sorry for your loss.
I actually got pg 1 week after a MMC at 12 weeks and a D&C. Period didn't return at all.
I tested after 8 weeks, which was how long I was told it could take for my period to come.
It was pretty hard emotionally but physically all worked out ok

Sorry to hear of your loss. From personal experience I would tell them tests are still
positive albeit faint. I actually (after quite some weeks) got a negative test after my first mc, to then discover later on I had retained products. That’s not to say it’ll be the case for you as it can just take longer for some for the pregnancy hormone to leave the body, but if a scan is on offer, take it!
Take care xx

Hi, I’m experiencing similar now. Had negative on standard pregnancy tests nearly a month on from losing my daughter at 18 weeks but faint positives on easy at home early tests and boots early.
. They all look the same (no lighter or darker each day). Did you end up getting a negative soon after your post?

I’m so sorry this has happened to you too. So mine was the same with not getting any lighter for probably around 10 days or so but I have now eventually had the negative if I read them within the correct time frame, if I leave it longer they will develop a second line but I guess they could be evaps and not something to go by. I said I’d wait until Monday just gone before I rang the hospital to ask for their advice but that was my first negative day (26 days) due to Christmas etc. Now the dreaded wait for the period is on!
If you’ve had the negative on a standard test I’d say this is good news - the cheap tests seem to be so sensitive! Give it a few days at a time before repeat testing, I really felt as though that helped me not get so obsessed with it (easier said than done).
Im so sorry for your loss xxx

Thank you for replying. Over last 3 days I can see the line is getting fainter on the boots ones so I guess behind actually being a healthy pregnancy that’s good news! So in the same boat with waiting for period to arrive. All the best with any TTC Xx
