Retained products after miscarriage possibly pregnant?

Hi,

I miscarried on the 1st of December and all my symtoms disappeared soon after, I also have a small amount of retained products. My pregnancy test is still very faint from my pregnancy due to the retained products.

The last few days I have had bleeding gums and tender breasts. This has always been my first pregnancy symptom. It might be just hormone related from my cycle returning to normal but I never get tender breasts with PMT.

I wasn't aware you could concieve with retained products but my midwife told me you can today.

Has anyone got any experience of this?

Thanks so much x

Retained products alone won't necessarily prevent you from getting pregnant but the HCG hormone will.

You won't ovulate while your HCG levels are elevated from your recent loss. Retained products doesn't always equate to raised HCG but the two more often than not run side by side (but not always). This is probably why you can't rule out a new pregnancy.

Sorry that's probably not much help but the only true way of knowing if you're pregnant is to get two HCG blood tests 48 hours apart. If the HCG level rises by more than 60% between tests, you have a viable pregnancy.

My pregnancy test remains faint but still detectable so I am assuming HCG is present and I couldn't have ovulated. Thank you again.
