MMC with twins

Found out at our 8w scan on Monday that we lost our identical twins (IVF embryo split), even after seeing two strong heartbeats week 7 💔

Really struggling with it all mentally and wanted some advice on how long to wait for my body to catch up before considering medical management? I would prefer the natural route if I can, but waiting for up to 21 days (as NHS says) seems like a lifetime when this is hard enough to process as it is, plus obviously Christmas is coming up and I'd like to be feeling a little stronger by then. I'd also like to consider another embryo transfer in the NY so the sooner I get my normal periods etc., the better. I'm still feeling nauseous so not convinced my body has got the memo yet.

Sending love to all in this group.

I'm very sorry, how heartbreaking. I do not have advice but hope someone will be able to advise you. 💓

So very sorry to hear your news. To be honest, with my MMC I was over 13 weeks by the time I had my surgical management. Since the MMC was discovered at my 12 week scan and the embryo was only five weeks, you will see that my body didnt recognise the miscarriage for seven weeks I reality. I suppose, if I hadnt had the surgical management my body would have realised eventually but whether this would have been before infection occurred I am not so sure. I didn't even try medical management. You absolutely have to do what you feel is right for you, of course but I seemed to have read so many instances if it not working properly..
I am thinking of you and such a very difficult time x

So sorry you are going through this. Very upsetting. I have just had surgical management last Thursday for a loss at 6 weeks 1 day found on a private 9 week scan. After having to have scans to double check for almost two weeks, I finally was able to have the surgery on Thursday. If you want the quicker and most successful outcome I would definitely suggest you have the surgery. I've had medical management in the past and it did not go well at all. I was very nervous about the surgery but it really wasn't as bad as I thought. Good Luck and all the best for a successful pregnancy in the very near future xx

Thank you for the replies 💛 @Objectiontime @BabyBorn I decided surgical was right for me, then after five hours in my EPU on Friday they told me they had no beds to do this for at least a fortnight, so my only option is medical management. I took my first tablet today and will be back in again on Wednesday. I'm so disappointed I didn't get the choice I wanted for my body and hope it goes OK.

@Tiredtoddlerma I'm so sorry you didn't get a choice, that's really poor. I hope it's straightforward for you x

The provision is shit, sorry you are going through this. I was a told a 3-4 week wait for medical management. I was lucky that I could go private. I hope you are ok.

@Tiredtoddlerma I'm so sorry for your losses and the poor medical support on offer. I hope it goes as well as it can in the circumstances.

Do pop back on here for support or practical questions if that's helpful. Sending hugs Flowers

Thank you for the support @Lincoln24 @boulevardofbrokendreamss @Iamnotalemming. It's a really disappointing situation to have to be in. I don't even know why they offered the surgical route! I guess that's the sad state of things in some parts of the NHS at the minute. I felt bad for the team, the nurses said they're competing with other people needing beds all across the hospital and EPU rarely gets the slots they ask for. No changes since the mife tablet today except I feel EXHAUSTED. All I want to do is sleep, although that could be the emotional stress of it all. Back Wednesday for the miso and that's when I think things will get gruesome.
