I just got my period after misscarrying 2 months ago. It is VERY heavy. It actually frightened mr how heavy it was when I woke up to it. Is this normal?

Hello. My sincere condolences on your miscarriage. Did you have a scan afterwards to check that your uterus was clear?

I’ve had heavy bleeding before (from a miscarriage rather than a period) and when I was soaking through a pad every hour then I was told to go to A&E. So if that’s the case then you may need to go to A&E.

If it’s not as heavy as that then maybe it’s just that you have two months’ worth of uterine lining and so it’s heavier than usual. In any case, please seek medical advice. I was fine in the end when I went to A&E but potentially I could have needed a hysterectomy or a transfusion. Please look after yourself and get checked out.

I ended up having emergency d and c. It was horrendous. I was at work and started uncontrollabley bleeding and an ambulance had to be called. I had a scan after misscarriage amd I hadn't passed everything so I was given tablets to take at home. I was to to do a pregnancy test at home 3 weeks later and if it's negative than there doesn't need to be anymore follow ups. That was mid October. I am beyond traumatised by my experience

Oh my goodness. Of course you are traumatised. That sounds completely horrendous and I’m so sorry you went through that. As if a miscarriage wasn’t bad enough on its own. There’s nothing I can say to make it better but I will wish for your healing (both physically and psychologically). Feel free to dm me if you want to talk xx
