Positive tests 6 weeks later

Hi all, I had a MC 6 weeks ago at 7 weeks. Over the past the last week, I've been having on/off cramping, bleeding (not enough to fill a pad), hot flashes and for the last two days feeling dizzy/fatigue. I did a pregnancy test on the 4th which was faint positive, but while at the drs on the 6th I mentioned the positive test. I tested after a few days and the lines have become darker. I did a did two clear blue digitals 7 days apart. One said pregnant 2-3 and then the other pregnant 3+. Since then the pink dye test have become darker instantly after doing them. I did a clear blue blue test today and it was way darker than on the 4th. Could this be HCG lingering?

Hi @Liuwa sorry for ur loss…❤️
can u rule out a new pregnancy? If yes, so then definitely hcg still high enough to be picked up by a pregnancy test. Have u been in touch with EPU? Xx

Liuwa · 15/11/2024 19:16

Hi@Rainbowchaser87

Thank you❤️ I'm not sure if it could be a new pregnancy. No, because I'd need to see a GP first. They then determine if I should get a refferal to be seen at the EPU. I managed to get a GP appointment for Wednesday. At first they wouldn't let me have an appointment.

On the 6th, the GP did a test he said " negative, only a very faint line." I'm guessing they have more accurate tests?

Hi Liuwa,
Sorry to hear about your miscarriage ❤
Did you seek advice from EPU/GP at the time of the miscarriage? They would usually say to check for hcg via a pregnancy test 10 days post miscarriage to see if everything has cleared so did you do this? X

Liuwa · 15/11/2024 19:40

Hi @JaffaCakes197

Thank you ❤

Yes, I did. I had to take Mifepristone and misoprostol to pass the pregnancy completely. I was given a low sensitivity test to take after a few weeks. It came back negative x

Hi Liuwa,

I know it’s not good news but that is good news in terms of hopefully you did pass everything naturally with your previous pregnancy!

I would speak with your GP and ask if they can do blood tests to monitor your HCG - if it is going up then it could potentially be a new pregnancy! Blood tests are notoriously better at picking up hcg levels and give an actual number to show if it’s going up, down or staying the same!

Sorry as it’s not the most helpful advice but just passing on my knowledge from having a couple of miscarriages, hope it helps a little! X

@JaffaCakes197

Yes, I definitely did pass everything and the pregnancy symptoms went away after 2 days.

Okay, I'll be asking today, as I have an urgent drs appt.

No, not u helpful at all. It's true only a blood test or scan can find out what is going on. As it could be anything. Thanks! x

How did your appointment go @Liuwa? Xx

Liuwa · 19/11/2024 16:51

@JaffaCakes197 Not good. I went to my GP yesterday, who then referred me to hospital.

At hospital I was scanned. They told me that I have an ectopic pregnancy on my right ovary. I had the choice between pills or surgery. I choose of course the pills. I have to go back this Friday to EPU to get HCG levels taken to see if they will be lowering, then again on Monday for another check. They think I'm at nearly 6 weeks gestation. I'm not in any serve pain, apparently because I'm early and it's on the ovary. I'm glad at least nothing has ruptured. I have a temperature and very fatigued, which drs are worried about too.

My HCG levels are at 3000.

I'm still in shock that this has happened. I do feel sad. It explains why I've been so fatigued for weeks. The dr thought it was my sleep issues at night. I'm disappointed with the GP I should of had bloods taken 2 weeks ago when the test came up faint positive.

But at least I haven't lost an ovary or fallopian tube.

Hopefully these meds will work.

Thank you for asking ❤️
