brown discharge is good. It means that your body is getting rid of gungey stuff to make a nice, clean, safe environment for your baby for the next few months.

If you bleed bright red stuff, get yerself to the nearest A & E, but brown means don't worry.

Of course, you are going to worry anyway, so give your local EPU a call tomorrow and try and get in for an early scan, so they can put your mind at rest.

For the meantime, try and relax as much as poss, I am sure all is well.

Hi bunny

brown is nothing to worry about, I had brown with both previous pregnancies and they were fine

I am also 6 weeks pregnant and have very strong period pains too, thats one of the signs of pregnancy.

It is your womb stretching and adjusting to the baby in there.

Brown or red discharge is not normal during pregnancy. But it can occur without there being much of a problem.

But of coruse, brown discharge coupled with period type pains could indicate a problem, and you need to get yourself checked out, by EPU I think. Only a scan and blood tests will determine how well a pregnancy is going.

Hope it all is alright!

I had light brown discharge when PG with DS, and all turned out OK. I did have to scanned to rule out mc or ectopic pg, so I would definitely get checked out. Whether EPU will see you without referral depends on their procedures so will vary from hospital to hospital.

I agree with belgo - bleeding is common, and quite frequently not any sort of issue, but it isn't normal, so should be checked out.
