D&C worries

Hi all
sadly our first pregnancy has ended in a miscarriage, supposed to be 10+ weeks but baby stopped growing around 6/7 weeks.
we had to make the heartbreaking decision on how we wanted to proceed and have chosen the surgical procedure (D&C)
feeling nervous about this, I know the actual surgical bit is only 10/15 mins but I’ve never been under general anaesthetic before and so not sure what to expect. I’m also 124kg (but have no health issues and perfect blood pressure) but can’t help feeling worried about my weight during the procedure.
just really looking for some insights on the procedure and if like me you’re extra cuddly and have had this before too.

I had a D&C in May 2022 and there was no one more terrified about it than me, I worried about every aspect of it and read endless Mumsnet threads.

I was terrified of the general anaesthetic but it was nothing to worry about. Everyone was so kind and just talked about holidays to me, they gave me something and said it’d feel like I’d had 10 gins… I don’t think I got through the sentence ‘I feel a bit funny’ and I was waking up in recovery.
The actual procedure was absolutely fine and I had very little bleeding afterwards. I am pretty much the same weight as you, there were no problems at all in terms of this either.

I read a thread on here that said physically it was fine but mentally they struggled and I thought I’d be ok as soon as the operation was over with but they were right, mentally I found it a little difficult.
So all in all, the procedure was absolutely fine but mentally I struggled for about 6 months (probably until the due date had passed). I still get upset now but nothing like I did earlier. Just be gentle with yourself ❤️
