Hi,
I've had my 3rd miscarriage so I'm eligible for referral to recurrent miscarriage clinic. I had bloods done after my 2nd miscarriage which were OK.
Does anyone know the difference between the tests offered via nhs referral vs Tommy referral?
Or is private the better option for more indepth tests?
Thank you.

I’d also be interested to know about this. Had 3 miscarriages this year. Had a pelvic scan this week which was normal and waiting blood test results to see what next steps are.

I got referred to professor Quenby at Coventry and she was excellent. I think she does more in-depth bloods and tests plus they have trails you can be put on. You can be referred to her through your GP, if you Google her name it can help explain how.

I was seen within 10 weeks 18m ago and she sent me blood forms to have done by my GP. I would highly recommend this route.

@Greenvelvetdress thank you, that's good to know. Were they able to find any cause?

@Meadowfield2 sorry for your losses, it's a horrible position to be in trying to find the best help.

Hi all, I am also experiencing my third miscarriage and wondering where to go with it. I also expect go need some in depth blood tests (long story) so not convinced the NHS will get to the bottom of it. I need someone in London really. Any suggestions helpful please?

The initial tests I’ve had which my GP ordered are a pelvic ultrasound and some bloods:

COAGULATION SCREEN, D-DIMER, PT GENE &@ FACTOR V LEIDEN, THROMBOPHILIA, ANTI-PHOSPHOLIPID ANTIBODY, THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODY, thyroid Function Test.

i think I’ve been lucky to be seen so quickly. I spoke to GP on a Friday who requested tests and I was called an hour later and booked in for ultrasound on the Monday, and bloods were also taken that week.

nothing has come back as a problem yet, just waiting on some more of the blood results to come back. My guess is that they will all come back normal so then it will be onto a referral to another service, im going to wait and see what the waitlist is for that support before considering anything private.

@Paws4thought yeah, they found out I had anti phospholipid syndrome which is a clotting disorder. She made a plan for me to have aspirin and clexane once pregnant again and I now have a 7mo little girl.

@Objectiontime I would really recommend Tommy's rather than going privately as I said above they are doing pioneering work in miscarriage and will do any bloods that could possibly need doing. Obviously it's upto yourselves but they are excellent.
