Period after miscarriage

I’m looking for some advice - I’m having my first period (I think?!) after miscarrying and it’s painless but very heavy compared to usual and at times heavier than the miscarriage itself was. I’m not sure if I’m wrong thinking it’s my period and whether to go back to the EPU or ring my GP.

My missed miscarriage was confirmed at 12 weeks (6th Sept) and started as a miscarriage 3 days later. It lasted for around 10 days and I’ve had two scans since - the first showing I was about 70% done while I was still bleeding and second scan on 3rd October when all bleeding had stopped showed it was done, plus a negative pregnancy test, though they did discover a fibroid that no one had mentioned before in the four prior scans I’ve had through fertility tests etc.

I started spotting again on 7th October and then that became full bleeding on 10th and it’s just progressively getting heavier. I’m not in any pain but experiencing clots and bleeding through pads within around 2-3 hours.

My periods have always been reasonably light and lasted three days so I’m a bit unnerved. Could it be a really heavy period or am I still miscarrying? Would love some advice x

Sounds like a normal (but heavier) period. Have you tested to make sure it wasn't an early mc?
It's normal for periods to change especially after pregnancy x

Coming back to this in case anyone else in a similar situation looks at it. After 14 days of bleeding I rang the EPU and had another scan, they’ve found ‘retained products’ and referred me for an urgent hysteroscopy with potential removal of the tissue.

If anyone else is in doubt, definitely ring your EPU! I was worried they’d say I wasn’t a patient with them anymore as my miscarriage had been marked as complete but they have been so helpful and saw me straight away.
