Prolonged bleeding getting worse in first trimester

Hi all, (trigger warning; question about miscarriage/bleeding)

I was hoping to hear if any of you have had similar experiences so I can either be reassured or braced when I can try and get into the EPAU when it’s open tomorrow.

I’m 9 weeks pregnant, and was first referred to the EPAU at 6 weeks for a placement scan as I was getting brown spotting and lower abdominal cramps. A scan showed a heartbeat and placement was where it should be. Also, blood test showed good hormone levels. The spotting never went away over the subsequent weeks but didn’t really change so I started to presume it was ‘normal for me.’ Anyway on Friday I noticed it was starting to look a bit pinkier in colour and by today (Sunday) it’s bright red in the toilet (sorry TMI). Still not filling a pad and looks brown after a while. No clots as yet but intermittent cramping that improves when moving. Over the past weeks the cramps have been worse at night/lying down but are more noticeable in the day. There is definitely more blood today than previously. The pain and volume is currently less than I’d experience during a period.

Does anyone have any similar experiences either positive or negative? I’m know all can be different but just trying to prepare myself for the confirmation scan. (Internet searches have me thinking either MC or Subchorionic heamatoma)

thanks and fingers crossed (but fearing the worst)

That all sounds a bit worrying to me OP. Fingers crossed for you but I think you're right to be concerned, and definitely to get an assessment. Best wishes

Thanks, had the check up this morning. Baby is fine. It’s a subchorionic haematoma causing the bleeding and pain. Not as scary as I’d feared 🙂
