I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum at 7 weeks. Was an IVF pregnancy so was on progesterone etc. I stopped all meds after the diagnosis and I started bleeding a few days later. When I went for a repeat scan I'd passed the sac but still had some retained products. They said to take a pregnancy test in 2 weeks and monitor bleeding.
Bleeding stopped within 1 week after passing the sac and tests became negative about 3 days ago.
Today I've started bleeding heavily like a heavy period. It's not unmanageable or anything. But after my last missed miscarriage I had surgery so only bled the once after the surgery then my cycles went back to normal.
Is it likely this bleeding is just the retained products coming away even though tests have been negative for a few days? Or is it more like a "period"? I'm going to ring the EPU on Monday as they wanted me to update them so I'll ask then (or if it becomes worse I'll ring sooner). I just assumed after the heavy bleed where I passed the sac, then had the scan, then I carried on bleeding for a week that all the products would be gone. I didn't think you could get a negative test while still having retained products. But I could be wrong.
