I am 7.5 weeks pregnant and had some light bleeding and spotting at 5 weeks.

I went for a scan on Monday and they said the fetus was only 3mm (should be 7) and had not heartbeat. They booked me in for a second scan in a couple weeks and advised to be prepared for a miscarriage.

I have had cramps and pink discharge since Tuesday. Yesterday I started passing small tissue or blood clots. And there is blood when I wipe but it isn't close to the heaviness of a period.

I was wondering how long it takes for bleeding to start?

It’s difficult because everyone is so different.
my first MC, it took 5-6 days to start.
I started bleeding Christmas Eve, only lightly, then 29th I had a major bleed and was told I was starting to miscarry at the scan so had to have medication to pass, my second I started bleeding lightly, and then went to the EPAU and was told to wait a week before going back to make sure that I was definitely miscarrying, and then after a week had some medication to help pass the pregnancy, as that didn’t start naturally like the first. My third mc, it took me only 3 days to pass naturally, it was intensely painful, I passed majority of the pregnancy but only had some remaining tissue which was 2cm by 3cm that was stuck high up, so had to go down medication route to get dislodge it, nobody can really say how long it can take unfortunately.

you may as well wait the time the EPAU have told you and then they will be able to deal with it in the safest way! Good luck and I’m so sorry for your loss x
