When to try again after D&C?

Hi everyone,

I had a d&c last week for a blighted ovum pregnancy. I was meant to be 10 weeks pregnant but found out baby stopped growing at around 6.5 weeks 😢 it was my second miscarriage in 6 months and I'm 30.

Just wondering - how long should we wait before trying again? And how long should you wait before having sex again? Of course I am in no way ready right now for either, and to be honest I am petrified of falling pregnant again because I don't think I can go through a third miscarriage, but I also don't want to wait too long before trying again as we are really desperate to start a family.

In the meantime we're going to get some tests done to see if there's a reason for the 2 miscarriages. If anyone has any advice or success stories please let me know ❤️

I got pg 1 week after my D&C, total shock as I was't aware it was possible.
I went to my GP in a panic and she said that it was absolutely fine
Physically there were no issues but to be honest it was hard emotionally.
That baby is 19 now though and wonderful

So sorry to hear of your losses, I’m in the same situation now, 2nd mc within a year and I’ve not long turned 31. Had to have surgical management with each and they just advise to wait for a period before trying again as it obviously helps with dating a new pregnancy, but lots fall pregnant before this and it’s not an issue. I’m currently on the fence between just trying again and praying it doesn’t happen a 3rd time or holding off and looking into having some tests, I think i’m still in shock it happened again.
I wish you luck with the tests and moving forward, and hope one day we can be on here posting our own success stories xx

They advised me to wait until I had my first bleed post surgery. I think this is mostly to give your body time to settle and to help with dating any future pregnancy accurately. We did wait and then started TTC the first cycle, surprisingly fell pregnant again, but I've just started bleeding at 9 weeks so think this is going to be a miscarriage too. I'm trying to see a positive in that I conceived again so quickly. Also relieved the miscarriage started naturally this time. I'm very sorry for your loss, it's such a difficult time.
