TTC after miscarriage

Hi,

looking for some shared experience/moral support.

I had a medically managed miscarriage at 9 weeks and have been ttc for 3 months now with no luck.

I really thought you were meant to be more fertile in those next 3 months so now feeling really disheartened and worried. Should I be concerned at this point, what’s other people’s experiences been trying to conceive after miscarriage?

thanks
x

Hi

So sorry to hear about your loss.

It took me 7 months of TTC again after my miscarriage (surgically managed) but that pregnancy has sadly just ended at 6 weeks. I have also heard about being more fertile after a miscarriage but I’ve been reading a lot online and it does seem to differ. It’s really hard isn’t it to know whether there’s anything else you should be doing.

Thanks for responding, I’m so sorry you’ve now experienced a second loss. I can’t imagine how you feel.

It is such a limbo period and you’re right, it’s hard to know what you can do. I’m sure we’ll both get there, it’s just such a rollercoaster

Thank you. It was a big shock but I’ve now been referred to a miscarriage clinic for tests which is something.

Are you taking anything other than folic acid? I read Luisa Zissman’s blog called maybe baby and followed the recommendations for things like Coq10, so I’m planning to start that up again.

That’s something you’re right, I hope you get some answers.

I’m taking pregnacare and B6 (which apparently helps with implantation) but I might look into Coq10 now you’ve mentioned it. Thank you.

How are you coping emotionally? I’m finding it can be all consuming

I'm so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately there's no scientific evidence to back up the idea that you're more fertile after a miscarriage. It have me a lot of false hope and actually hurt me more. It took me 9 months to conceive after a surgically managed MMC. Unfortunately that also ended in another MMC so we're now nearing the end of cycle 2 trying again x

Really sorry to hear about both your losses, I can’t imagine how you’re feeling.

youre right it is more hurtful, because our nurse at the early pregnancy unit mention it, it definitely gave me false hope that it would happen really quickly.

wishing you the best of luck with ttc again x

I also read on the Tommy’s website that vitamin D can help support a healthy pregnancy so I got some of that today too to start taking.

I’m feeling very much the same as you. With my first two pregnancies we were lucky that I fell pregnant on the second cycle both times. So for it to take 7 months after the first miscarriage felt like such a long time (even though I know there are people who try for so much longer) - it feels like living life in little windows of period/fertile weeks and ovulation/two week wait and then a negative pregnancy test and back to the start again. It is all consuming and tbh it feels hard to focus on anything else. And I feel like it puts everything else on hold too - we were planning to get married this year but after my miscarriage put it on hold, and now I’ve had the second one we likely won’t be getting married next year either because we’re prioritising trying to have another baby.

How are you coping?
