Still positive 4 weeks after mmc

I had a mmc at 9 weeks and then had surgical management a week later. I've just tested now as was told by the hospital and it still says pregnant. Not sure if I should wait it out or maybe try epu. Anyone had this?

Could you have got pregnant again? Definitely try the EPU you definitely shouldn’t be getting a positive test now

courgettes4eva · 22/07/2024 16:38

they say up to 6 weeks still may be positive on test

@BuffaloCauliflower definitely not a new pregnancy so it's just annoying as just wanted it to be over to start trying again.

@courgettes4eva I have read that so hoping that's all it is

I go away tomorrow for 10 days so not sure if I should just test again when I'm back and if it's still positive then go straight to epu.

This is my third miscarriage and haven't had this before.

I am sorry for your loss.
When my period hadn't returned after 8 weeks I did a test and it was positive.
I was pg again and shes 19 now

YYY-85 · 22/07/2024 16:43

@Hoppinggreen I wish that could be the case but haven't dtd so it's definitely not that

@YYY-85 sorry for your loss. My EPU says to call them if a test is still positive more than 3 weeks post surgical management so they can scan and check there isn't any retained tissue. There may not be any, and it can take longer for a positive to go away even when there are no issues, but it's good to check and be sure.

so sorry about your loss. I har a MMC and needed a d&c for it January this year. My pregnancy tests stayed positive for weeks, I kept phoning EPU and the palmed me off. I had to go up for weekly bloods to make sure it was coming down. After 8 weeks of this I had enough and asked for second opinion to be scanned again and they found retained products. I had to get a second d&c in March and the pathology came back with signs of chronic endometritis due to the retained products. Almost 6 months down line from this and no hope conceiving as I think I have scarring or some complication from all this. Worst year of my life. I would advise you contact EPU and get seen asap. You don’t want retained products being there for long time x

I know ppl probably mean well but to ask if you’re pregnant again is awful when you’re clearly going through a mc (you know your body).

with both my mc I tested positive for 8 weeks from the first bleed up until I had my period
some evil messed up joke by Mother Nature.

what I would say is if you’re experiencing smelly discharge, pain or discomfort you might have an infection from retained tissue and be testing positive
this happened to me so be careful x
