How long before bleeding starts?

Had a call Fri to say my hcg levels had halved and therefore was a loss (after being monitored for 2 weeks) but when can I expect to start bleeding?

Sorry you’re going through this. Everyone is different but sometimes once you have been told, then your body realises and the process begins within a week or so.
I had missed miscarriage, found out at my 12 week scan that baby had stopped at 9.5w. I’d had no bleeding or pain but within 30mins of being told my waters went. I then had natural miscarriage a week later, while waiting for medical management.
I hope everything goes as well as it can in this situation, sending hugs to you 🤗

@QueenN I've had some brown spotting just. Was under investigation and they did bloods Thursday rang me Fri to say my hcg levels had dropped By half and I was to see nurse next Thursday for repeat bloods to ensure that levels went back to pre-pregnancy level. I took a test yesterday and it was a squinter so I know today's test would be negative. But other than some cramping and some brown blood I've not had had any bleeding so it's worrying me. Thanks for ur advice.

I had a little bit of brown spotting on and off for a few days before I started with cramps and then bleeding. The waiting/not knowing is always hard 😔

Thanks you @QueenN it's the waiting annoying me. I know pregnancy is lost but I want the symptoms such as sore boobs and no bleeding to sort themselves as it's a kick in the teeth when you know no baby

I know the feeling 😏 you wait for the symptoms to go and bleeding to start, and then waiting for the bleeding to stop 🤦‍♀️ make sure to phone the EPU for advice if you’re worried.

QueenN · 30/06/2024 19:44

If you don’t mind me asking, how far along were you?

wifey2023 · 30/06/2024 19:45

Not worrying me just finding it strange as I was always under impression that once levels dropped dramatically that everything left if makes sense. Any previous losses was earlier than this and wasn't being monitored so wasn't aware so bleeding started and that was that.

So so sorry. I just had a miscarriage. I had cramps and brown spotting one day and then the next day the red heavy bleeding came. My thoughts are with you and everyone going though this x

wifey2023 · 30/06/2024 20:47

Thanks @SparklesandRainbows sorry you've gone through this.

Aw thank you so much 🩷 such a hard thing to go through x

Cosmos24 · 01/07/2024 19:24

I'm so sorry for your loss. Am I right in thinking that they took the HCG levels because they couldn't see a pregnancy on the scan (ie no sac or anything)? If so, there may not be a huge amount of bleeding, it might just be spotting now and then getting a period at some point.

If you did have a pregnancy seen on the scan then that is a different story and presumably they will talk you through the options of conservative, medical and surgical management and hopefully explain to you what will happen.

wifey2023 · 01/07/2024 19:25

Bleeding started last night late and is horrendous. And yes they were monitoring hcg levels cuz I was in pain

Oh no really sorry it's been so hard. Do you need to see a doctor if it's heavy? They told me to go in to A&E if it was filling more than one pad/hour (actually one pregnancy they said 1/hour another pregnancy loss in a different hospital they said 2/hour). Hope you're as ok as you can be in this situation

Fontainebleau007 · 01/07/2024 19:32

So sorry op, look after yourself 🤍

wifey2023 · 01/07/2024 22:27

@Cosmos24 told me if needing to change pad more than twice in an hour due to me having naturally heavy flow that they'd lengthen the pad usage as 1 in an hour is normal for me on a normal month never mind this happening. Also gave me a list of symptoms to look out for that will require a trip to a+e. Have a final appt at EPU on Thursday to get final set of bloods done to ensure that numbers have went back to normal x
