Hiya!
Very new here but really struggling and just after some advice please.
I had a miscarriage on the 06/04/24 and at the time was told all placental tissue had come away and I would bleed for around 6 weeks. At just over 7 weeks I visited my hospital and had a scan to actually confirm I had a large amount of RPOC still inside and I needed surgery to remove this. This was booked for a week later. 5 days later I hemorrhaged at home and was sent to hospital in an ambulance for the surgery due to the amount of blood lost at home, I also had a blood transfusion in hospital. Over 3 weeks have passed since the surgery, I had a negative pregnancy test 2 days ago however I am still having brown blood coming out. It stopped for a few days earlier this week and was only when I wiped in the morning or had a bowel movement however today it seems to be more and there is blood on my panty liner and I can sometimes feel it coming out. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? As you can imagine this has been a truly traumatic experience for me and I don’t want to keep bothering the gp or the hospital if it really is nothing and it is normal.
Thank you for reading.

So sorry to hear of your loss. After I had surgery the bleeding lasted 3-4 weeks but it was very light by the end. If you’re in doubt at all I would definitely phone or go back to the hospital as they should be able to advise you and maybe do a follow up scan too. You are not bothering them - it’s what they’re there for. I did a private scan after about 4 weeks but if you’re worried about bleeding I’d go back to epu first. X

I’m so sorry to hear what you’ve been through. Because you mention it becoming light and brown I’d say that’s a good sign as probably old leftover blood coming out, sometimes bowel movements can bring about additional bleeding so that could explain the recent bit of bleeding.
Please contact the hospital though, whilst it’s likely all will be well, I had a negative test a few weeks after medical management for a miscarriage but a few weeks after the test I had some bleeding (had first thought it was my period but it went on for too long) and turned out I had RPOC, I so wished I contacted them sooner. Hope you’re getting on okay xx

Thank you both. I’ve got a follow up appointment with my GP on Friday so I’m going to mention everything to her. Just wanted to hear some other people’s thoughts and experiences as currently feel like the only one to have gone through this 😔.
