I wanted to give my experience about this as I tried so hard to find something online to help me during this time and if I had I might have gone to hospital sooner.
I had a TFMR at 26 weeks in April by labour and delivery.
I left hospital with bleeding and cramping which is normal. However after a week or so the cramping and bleeding was still very heavy. I told the midwife and GP and they said this was normal. The bleeding became very heavy and almost mixed with what looked like tissue. In week two the cramping continued and bleeding not settled.
one morning I woke up with a temperature and chills and called the GP who said I had a UTI . The day went on and I felt awful so went to the hospital. My bloods were flagged for infection markers and when scanned I had retained products and my tummy was full of puss. It was only just before surgery I started having clots when I wee. I was taken down for a surgical management of misscarriage under general anaesthetic.
I went home the same day and a week
later the bleeding and cramping was still there. I called the GP and she thought it could be my period. Another week went on and the same bleeding appeared with tissue like bleeding. A yellowing mix and blood and when I went to the loo it would hang down.
I had enough at this point and paid for. Private scan and there it was still retained product. I went again to hospital and they confirmed with their own scan. Shortly after arriving I had a big bleed. Pouring out of my while on the loo. Around 150ml.
because I had only had the SMM under general two weeks prior they recommended the MVA for miscarriage we I had a week
ago. She assured me that it was gone by scanning at the end.
I have demanded a scan a week after the MVA to assure me it’s gone.
my message to anyone who delivers early for any reason is to ask for a scan to make sure the products are gone. It’s so common with early delivery’s or terminations or even miscarriage. Go with you gut if something feels off tell them and say you are worried. I was so let down by the NHS with the aftercare I received.
that first time I had mild sepsis and was on antibiotics for 10 days just in case.
I'm one week post MVA bleeding is still there and cramping however I’m hoping the scan in a few days picks nothing up.
