Hi all, wondering if anybody has a remotely similar situation.
Found out 2 days before our wedding, at a private scan, we had a MMC at 11 weeks, baby measuring 7 week.
Referred to EPU who re-scanned to confirm and we endured the dreaded 2 week wait to see if body started to pass naturally, which it didnt. Not even any spotting.
ERPC (surgical management) completed 10th May with minimal bleeding after. However still testing positive 3 weeks later!
a re-scan showed a small amount of retained tissue circa 1.9cm and I was offered medical management which I accepted on Weds 5th June….absolutely nothing happened!!
ive been back to EPU today, 7th June and had a second dose of Misoprostol…yet 10 hours later still nothing. No hint of a bleed or any cramping!!
It’s been 7 weeks since we found out now and putting a real dampner on the newlywed life, we are absolutely devastated and keen to move forwards.
Has anybody been in a similar situation? I’m worried my body clearly doesn’t want to let go of whatever this retained tissue is!! xxx

So sorry you are going through this. I had this too and was nearly at the point of having to have a 2nd surgical management when the tissue just came out itself.
Wishing you all the best, this is the hardest time but you will get through it 💐

I'm so sorry lovely. I haven't experienced this but wanted to say how sorry I am that you are dealing with something so awful. Sending lots of love xx

So sorry to read this, i had a very similar situation. Had a second surgical management with a different consultant who used some kind of internal camera to be sure. And they did a scan before waking me up.

It was devastating to feel that my body couldn't let the little one go, but I took a strange comfort in knowing I had them with me that little bit longer.

Thank you and im so sorry youve experienced something similar. I have decided to wait it out for my period in the hope it will naturally come away rather than further intervention 🤞🏻 x

Hey!
I'm currently in the same boat ish and just wondered how you're getting on a couple of weeks down the line?
I'm 7 weeks since miscarriage and still having very strong positive tests, had scans confirmed retained tissue and was told not enough to bother will just take another next in a week.
Last week they scanned again and they offered medical management to try pass the remaining tissue and nothing happened.
It's never-ending and there doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel at the moment

Hi lovely, so sorry that you are going through this. I had 2x medical management for my retained tissue that did nothing. In the end the emotion turmoil of going back to EPAS every few days was too much. I waited for my period (which was a very ‘normal’ period!) as the last scan I had showed I was about to ovulate and my period was therefore on its way. I think I ended up passing whatever was left 3/4 days after my period ended. It wasn’t painful just some grey/pink clots that looked a little ‘veiny’ sorry for the tmi. Finally had a negative test some 10 weeks since first finding out we had a MMC. I know you will be feeling in the trenches but I promise it does get better. Please make sure you are talking to those around you and sharing how you feel, also accept any help or counselling that your EPAS service offers xxx

I’m sorry you went through this, and over your wedding too. I experienced similar and was surprised that mc can sometimes be so ‘drawn out’ over many weeks 😨

Hi Thank you for responding
I'm pleased it finally righted itself for you.
I'm over a week since medical management and still no change and waiting call back from epu.
Hopefully it happens on its own without any further intervention.
Thank you for your kind message I'm doing OK just feeling very stuck and tired of it now, it's a strange limbo to be isn't it.
Good luck with everything x
