No heartbeat at scan

Went for early scan as I'm 40 so wanted too see if all ok. Scan dated me at 6 weeks and a few days, whereas LMP dated me at 8 weeks.
No heartbeat detected so booked to see early pregnancy unit today. They confirmed same thing, said they would expect to see a heartbeat by now and the fact I'm spotting as well wasn't a good sign.
Re scan in 2 weeks to confirm if haven't miscarried by then.

A lot to take in !

Im sorry to hear that op. Look after yourself 💐 I have been in that situation a few times. I will hope for the best for you .

I had a scan at 6 weeks and had to go back 10 days later, they then found one. Try not to worry. Unfortunately we have no control over what may be so I try and stay positive to keep the stress down until I know for sure. Fingers crossed for you

Unfortunately I think the miscarriage is starting. I don't have any pain or cramping but the spotting I had for 2 days is now heavier, its still not heavy but whereas before it was mainly when I wiped, now it is a light layer in my underwear.
How fast does it progress from here?
Finding it really hard to talk to partner as this was unplanned, I had started to really want it whereas he was still on the fence.

Not really sure what to expect over the coming hours/days.
Pretty sure the miscarriage is starting but it's not how I expected, guessing its all different.
When I woke up there was more then spotting in my underwear and when I wipe, then it's calmed down for a few hours to just a tiny bit when I wipe.
Now it seems a bit more, but its not massively heavy like I expected.
Is it because I'm only 6 weeks?

Hi @lola04 . I'm sorry you're going through this. I had a loss 5 weeks ago at 6 weeks pregnant as well. Its alot to take in. When mine started I found I just wanted to be alone and spent hours searching the internet for any information I could find.

This was my experience. Started with some light brown spotting in the AM and within a few hours progressed to more reddish blood and some bits of tissue with pretty bad cramping which lasted into the evening. The amount of blood I would say was slightly more than my normal period (mine are very light). The following day the cramping had tapered off, and I did then pass a larger bit of greyish tissue which I think was the sac. Then lighter bleeding lasted for a few more days.

It is very normal to have some bleeding during pregnancy, I did with my first pregnancy and all was fine. From what I've read, I think if you pass tissue or have bad cramping it's not a good sign. It's really difficult not knowing for sure, you could request a scan in one week rather than wait 2 if nothing else changes. Wish you the best.

Well no changes so far, it's still a light bleed that would possibly just fill a pantyliner, no more, and there when I wipe.
I really want this process over so we can start dealing with it, the unknown and the waiting are horrendous

Hi, I have had quite a few
miscarriages and they are all different. Some just bleed and cramp
for a few days. Some go on and on and never complete and then you need a surgical intervention… some you don’t bleed at all for weeks until after the heartbeat has stopped.

your next scan will tell you what is happening. Just look after yourself.
