Positive pregnancy test 3 weeks post miscarriage

5 weeks ago I started miscarrying at 10 weeks(blighted ovum). Initially I had decided to wait for the pregnancy to leave naturally, i was bleeding for 2 weeks, cramping, back pains and lost symptoms but the sac and embryo remained so resulted in getting surgery (MVA) on 3/5. I was instructed to do a pregnancy test 3 weeks after as a positive result would mean remaining tissue and could lead to possible infection.

Bleeding slowed down 2 days post surgery and continued spotting for another week or so.
Had unprotected sex on 19/5 and today (26/5) decided to do a pregnancy test as its been past just over 3 weeks since my op.. and its positive. 2 strong lines. This worried me as I could understand maybe a faint line due to dropping HCG levels. But these lines were very clear. Anyways I contacted the EPU and they told me to test again in 48 hours and if its still positive they will book me for a scan.

Looking back at dates I don’t think it’s actually possible to be a new pregnancy, and incomplete miscarriage seems a lot more likely. Im emotionally tapped out as Ive had 2 back to back blighted ovums and at this point just want to move on.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it possible for it to be a new pregnancy so soon and would it show as positive this quick? Whats going on?

Hello,

Sorry for your loss. I had a D&C in March and continued to test positive for 7 weeks until my period returned. I had no retained tissue and it wasn't a new pregnancy. My hormones are still screwed up, sadly, but it just seems that occasionally some women's bodies really hold onto those hormones :(
