Am I pregnant?

Seven weeks ago I had what I thought was a miscarriage. I had a lot of bleeding and sharp pains in my stomach which lasted for a few hours. Five weeks later I had spotting which I thought was the return of my period. During this time though I have had pregnancy symptoms eg extreme tiredness, full rounded breasts and stomach, nausea etc. Took a pregnancy test yesterday and it came up positive. Am wondering if I am still pregnant?

You could very well be - definitely give you doctor a call. When I went to the EPU for my scan when I was miscarrying, the doctor there said that bleeding in pregnancy is never normal, but it doesn't always mean miscarriage.

I don't want to get yuor hopes up in case it's not, but you could even have been carrying twins and lost one but the other survived.

Good luck.

Go and see someone today and get checked out. I hop everything is good news

When was your last period before all this? Could you have conceived AFTER this potential miscarriage?
A pos test suggests that you ARE pg, but all this bleeding must be very confusing! I suggest you make an appt at the GP, and also take another pg test in a couple of days. If you ARE, the line won't fade, whereas if you aren't, it will. You need to rule out serious probs like ectopic but don't panic, it's unlikely. There's also a chance you conceived twins and one is still there....

Just go to the docs and set your mind at rest. If they get a pos test too they might refer you to the EPU for an internal scan.

Hope it's what you want! xxx

Seca

I bled from Week 5 - 8. DD is nearly one now.

Not wishing to get your hopes up, just sharing my own experience. The cause of the bleeding was never determined.

Have made an appointment with the doctor for this coming Tuesday. Hopefully this will put my mind at rest.

Went to the doctor yesterday. Good news. There is a baby there with a good strong heartbeat. Doctor was unconcerned over bleeding and said that all that matters now is that the baby is healthy. Am scheduled for ultrasound next Thursday. Am inclined to think though that the bleeding and pain were related to the miscarriage of a twin as have read a bit more on this.

C2ndbaby · 09/04/2008 12:35

Congratulations! Sounds like while not knowing you sailed through your first 12 weeks you lucky fish. I'm 6 weeks pregnant also went to GP yesterday but have really been feeling like shit, have had heartburn, have been gaging at everything and am off most foods have been eating crisps the last couple of days. Well I hope you sail throught the next 28 weeks without any problems.

Hi catzy, I am sure that I am 14 weeks because of the stage I am at. Prior to my pregnancy my periods were really regular. Also we had been using contraception since Week 5 when I thought I had miscarried. Doctor however is not sure that I am 14 weeks and is using this as a basis for an ultrasound next Thursday.
