Ectopic - what were your early symptom

Hi. X-post in pregnancy but no one replied. 😞

I’m 6 weeks by ovulation today, and beginning to feel as though the pregnancy is ectopic. I’ve had brown bleeding with small amounts of brown matter (clots? Tissue?), and a strange intermittent lower back twinges on my left hand side. It would be my second ectopic in 3 years (self-resolved thankfully), and I’m 41 with a history of recurrent miscarriage. So all the risk factors. 😞

The last time I had slow rising hcg, but that didn’t seem to be the case this time. Got 3+ weeks on a Clearblue at 20dpo and was still testing 3+ on Sat after I started spotting. The spotting isn’t enough to totally fill a panty liner but it’s significant. Coupled with the weird back thing I’m scared it’s ectopic. I’ve self-referred to the EPAU but it’s not open until tomorrow and I know it’ll be very busy so have no idea when to expect a call let alone a scan. Not sure A&E can help atm without extreme pain or heavy bleeding but I am concerned…

What were your early symptoms of ectopic? Did you get lower one-sided back pain? If I wasn’t pregnant I’d think maybe sciatica? Never had it before though.

Sorry for the essay. Spinning out slightly.

Believe it or not I had none....my hcg was doubling normally I had no pain or bleeding I just didnt ' feel pregnant' best to get seen ASAP and put your mind at ease as the stress won't help things either. Sending you positive thoughts ahead of tomorrow!

I didn’t have any symptoms that made me believe I had an ectopic, until it ruptured.

However, because of my history with my next pregnancy I was offered a 6 week scan to make sure it was OK. So hopefully EPU will be able to do the same. If not, maybe a private scan?

I hope it’s not. Wishing you all the best x

You have had an ectopic before so should be scanned asap this time. Please contact your local EPAU first thing tomorrow.

I have had two ectopics, no symptoms either time but the second one was diagnosed before 6 weeks due to the early scan the EPAU did.

My next pregnancy was in the right place, seen on scan before 5 weeks.

We're your etopics in different tubes each time please?

No. Mine were both on the same side, the first treated with methotrexate and the second time I lost my tube.

I think this is what baffles/ scares me. I lost my tube first time round so when I see people with multiple etopics I often wonder is it the same side or opposite sides. I'm hoping woth my right being in good condition that I'm lucky enough not to have an etopic on that side as well. thank you for answering x

Obviously some women are very unlucky and both tubes have issues, but when I had my sapingectomy they had a good look at the other tube and from the outside at least didn't see any issue (eg adhesions). My next pregnancy was fine (came from my ovary on the tubeless side), and I hope you'll be all fine too.

they did remove a cyst on my right side ( etopic was on left) so whilst I'm worried about scarring he seemed to think it would be fine. What an awful thing us women have to go through eh!
