Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Hi all - I found out I was pregnant mid February (1st time aged 31) clear blue said 3weeks+, worked it out to be around 4 weeks after period calculations etc. End of Feb, at 5+6 I experienced 4 hours of pains and clotting followed by a week of spotting.
I had not had any pregnancy related appointments at this point being so early and when calling my GP since the miscarriage they had no interest as I was not experiencing fever.
It's difficult with out a professional judgement when it's your first experience! Anyway sucked it up and just got on with life but 6 full weeks later I'm still showing a strong immediate positive on tests - again GP has no interest as they tell me this can happen for up to 3 months.
I don't believe there's a possibility I'm still pregnant as all symptoms I was originally showing quickly disappeared. Just seems strange that the lines wouldn't even be fading and seems impossible to get any sort of answer as my GP isn't interested!
Anyone experience anything similar?

If you didn't get a negative test after the bleed it is possible you didn't actually miscarry. Loss of symptoms is not diagnostic. You'd now be coming up on three months gone so I'd say you need a scan.

I'd push to get scanned at the early pregnancy unit. I think your GP is wrong - I had a MC last year and they said they expect you to get a negative test within 2-3 weeks, and I should contact them if not, as it can be a sign that the MC hasn't fully cleared which can cause infection. as PP said, losing symptoms doesn't indicate you lost the pregnancy, and I had bleeding in my current pregnancy, which is going OK at 16 weeks.

Thanks all - I've contacted the EPU who have said to call back the GP and demand an apt as a referral is needed for the EPU to scan.
Now have a GP apt booked but not for 2 weeks!
EPU were lovely and said they would expect tests to show negative after 3-4 weeks following an early miscarriage.
Feel like an idiot for waiting so long now but the GP was so dismissive at first I almost felt stupid!
Time will tell.

Hi OP, is there any chance you could be pregnant again following your loss? Slightly different in that I had a negative test following my miscarriage but my period never arrived, which I put down to my body regulating itself. But, it turned out I was pregnant again. I suppose it depends how often you've been testing / if you missed a window where you would have tested negative?

I had a negative test 2 weeks after miscarrying, is it possible for you to get scanned privately? Thats what i did when EPU wouldn’t entertain me as i started to miscarry on a Friday night and EPU wouldn’t scan until the monday

So you're looking at 2 weeks for the GP appointment and then who knows how long until you get a referral appointment through.

I couldn't wait that long not knowing. Can you look at paying privately for an ultrasound scan?

Is there a quicker way to get a gp referral? Would your surgery respond if you did it in writing, or would a telephone appointment be quicker?

You can test positive up to three months but normally, after 3 weeks they would scan and check your HCG blood levels. You could well be retaining tissue, and this can be a big infection risk.

Not sure where to look for private scans - seen places like 'Peek a baby' but seem to offer reassurance scans not sure if they're medically able to determine retained tissue etc? Happy to look into private ones but just don't know where to start!
GP told me to call each morning and book as an emergency apt whilst waiting the two weeks in hope that they can see me earlier.
Thought about going to a walk in centre but not sure they have the resources to scan or the ability to refer...
They seem to think I'm infection free as not showing fever signs or pain but I'm not so sure. Confused!

Hm, but if you start to feel unwell you should get checked out.
Can the GP not do a phone consultation? Unless they have x-ray vision they don't really need to see you in person.

I’d book a private scan I’d explain that you’re unsure if you miscarried as you had some bleeding or if you’re pregnant again since the bleeding. I’ve had reassurance scans with bleeding and the point was for me to see if it was ectopic before I could get appt with EPU pricey but worth it if book if you can x

Tested last night - just over 6 weeks following the clotting episode and the result is shown in picture - quite strong still! Will test again Monday before the EPU appt to check if it's reducing

Thank you - I think we'd come to terms with loss at the initial clotting stage just really want to get my body back ready to start trying again! Just hoping Mondays scan can confirm all has happened naturally and I can start to move forward... X

Those tests are crap, they don't get much darker than that. If your MC wasn't confirmed, I'd be erring on the side you're still pregnant. Hope your scan on Monday brings good news

You really can't diagnose anything from the darkness of an HPT line. The only conclusion is that your body still thinks you are pregnant and there are a few reasons why that might be. I hope you are doing ok OP.

Thanks for all the advice guys - had the most unreal news at the EPAU - pregnant with a healthy baby, 13+5!
Have a heart shaped uterus and the original bleed was from one tunnel of the heart and baby is in the second! Appointments galore about to commence !
