Retained product - experiences?

Hi all,

I had a miscarriage on 24th Feb (but had been bleeding since 19th). I was 12 weeks pregnant but baby had stopped developing at 8 weeks.

I have bled pretty much continuously since then (only had 5 days off for the last 7 weeks). I went for an ultrasound today and she said there was still “fluid in the lining of the womb” - I asked what that meant and she just repeated the same thing, but mentioned it was left over from the pregnancy, I’m assuming it means retained products but she didn’t mention anything about tissue.

The findings are getting sent back to my GP so I’m just waiting for them to contact me but I’m wondering if anyone would mind sharing their own experiences, particularly with fluid in the womb lining? As I’m still not entirely sure what that means!

It feels like this has dragged on for so long now and knowing we’re still not near the end is really crushing my mental health 😢

Thank you 🩷

Hi, I’m sorry to hear that and that you’ve been going through that for so long! I feel like I can relate I was around 12 weeks and recently had a miscarriage over two weeks ago (which I was told was going to happen) two days ago I experienced constant bleeding for just over an hour to the point where I couldn’t get off the toilet as it was pouring out (what I went through when I actually miscarried) it’s made me so anxious to go anywhere as I didn’t expect that to happen and now I’m worried that’ll happen when I’m out or at work. I’m off to the hospital to have a ultrasound tomorrow so I’ll let you know what happens and if it ends up being similar to what you’re going through

So sorry for your loss @Kch197, your experience sounds so similar to mine! I’m glad you’re getting seen quickly so hopefully they can resolve it.
My GP phoned me today and confirmed 23mm of retained products, they want to rescan me within 10 days. It’s been 7 weeks so I don’t really know what difference 10 days is going to make but I have to go through processes I guess.
Good luck for your ultrasound tomorrow, let me know how you get on x

@MrsB2019x Well they confirmed I have 15mm retained product left, told me it’ll probably just cause me to bleed for longer and possibly have another episode like I did the other day which hasn’t made me feel any less anxious, and then up for a rescan in 3 weeks to make sure there’s nothing left x

im going through the same just had a scan this morning and found 12 mm tissue not sure if from miscarriage or if I have fallen again and it just haven’t developed. HCG bloods less than 1. On Monday they are redoing bloods and putting me on progesterone for 7 days to reset my cycle as haven’t blood at all since miscarriage. If that doesn’t work they will put a camera in womb to see what the 12mm tissue is.

so confused and trying not to think worse.

@Kch197 Are they not gonna intervene and just let your body expel it naturally? 3 weeks seems such a long time to wait ☹️

@Rosyposy26 Sorry you’re going through a tough time too, how long has it been since your MC?

Update from me, they’re rescanning me Thursday then I’m having a D&C on Friday. Hoping that will be the end of it 🤞

My mC was 2/2 but woke up this morning to very heavy bleeding and passing clots. Hopefully it will clear everything out

MrsB2019x · 14/04/2024 21:03

@Rosyposy26 Hopefully 🤞 are they going to rescan you to check everything is out? I had exactly what you describe 2 weeks ago but clearly there’s still some in there ☹️

I don’t know as on Friday scan I wasn’t bleeding so asked me to come back tomorrow now I’m bleeding I hope they do. Bloods tomorrow for full fertility details.

Rosyposy26 · 16/04/2024 09:24

@MrsB2019x as I am bleeding they have decided to scan in 2 weeks to see if everything is normal. Which I am hoping will be bleeding seems to be slowing down now.

how are you?

MrsB2019x · 17/04/2024 19:47

I’ll have everything crossed for you @Rosyposy26 🤞

I have had barely any bleeding since my scan last week so I imagine I’ll still have to go ahead with surgery on Friday. I do have my rescan tomorrow morning though so I’ll know for sure tomorrow
