Period like pain weeks after miscarriage

So I miscarried on 26th January and bleeding/discharge completely stopped by 20th February. I did a pregnancy test on that day and it was negative.

Now since past 2/3 days I have been getting period like pains/sharp pain on lower right abdomen which are uncomfortable. They have been bearable for most part, but it is getting to the point where i am thinking of taking paracetamol to control the pain . It sometimes feels like sharp stabbing pain & really uncomfortable and sometimes feels like my period would come any minute, but i don't have any other menstrual symptoms like stiffening of boobs etc. So i am confused i surely couldn't be coming onto my periods 2 weeks after miscarriage discharge stopped?

My quesiton is, is this normal?

I’m sorry for your loss. Did you see a dr or EPU following your miscarriage? If not, I’d suggest you go just in case. The miscarriage might not be complete, or, less likely, it could be an ectopic pregnancy (sometimes they show a false negative on pregnancy tests).

Hopefully it’s neither, but it’s probably a good idea to check all is OK. Wishing you all the best 💐

I was checked at EPU on 3rd day of miscarriage and midwife i said i had passed most of the pregnancy naturally.
I was advised to do pregnancy test after bleeding stopped which i did.

sorry you’re going through this. Would seek medical advice. I experienced similar and at that time had access to a self-referral early pregnancy unit, phoned them and was rescanned (vaginal scan) at the EPU and it was that the miscarriage was ‘incomplete’, I had to have a procedure.

Loopytiles · 02/03/2024 08:08

as the PP says the scan was primarily to rule out ectopic pregnancy

How was your experience of the procedure? Does bleeding happen all over again?
I've called EPU, they said they are looking at my notes and would call mr back.
