Never ending miscarriage

Had a missed miscarriage in January and have retained products of conception, they said around 1.5mm. Had a scan last week that confirmed this. The sonographer was confident the best route was to allow it to pass naturally. It's been almost 6 weeks now since I had the tablets to induce miscarriage.

I am now bleeding again, it feels a lot like a period. My question is, can it be a period with retained tissue?

I had exactly the same a couple of years ago. I bought a load of very cheap pregnancy tests and took one every day. The line gradually faded, over about 6 weeks, and a couple of days after getting a negative test, I had my first period and passed the final 1cm of retained product.

If I remember correctly, they even told me as the hosp that I was likely to pass it during my next period, which turned out to be totally right.

Hope this helps. Went on to conceive my lovely DD a couple of months later so hoping that’s the case for you too, if that’s what you want!

Something very similar happened to me, following a procedure to remove the remains of my pregnancy. I just didn't stop bleeding and remember going backwards and forwards between my GP and the hospital. They insisted that it would right itself, but it didn't and I ended up having a second procedure.

If the bleeding doesn't stop over the next week, I would advise you to go back to the hospital. It is so debilitating and doesn't help at what is such a sad time.
