Hi all,

it’s a long one, but I’ve miscarried I believe and have been seen at the EPU.

this was the test on the evening I bled, but was otherwise unaware I was pregnant, although over a week late for Mother Nature.

totally irregular cycles, last one was 3 months prior to the last bleed in Jan.

is this positive or evap or due to loss?

thank you x

From my experience, it looks like it was a chemical pregnancy

Lou0811 · 23/02/2024 18:16

Sorry to sound daft, but what is a chemical pregnancy? X

It’s a very early miscarriage, before 5 weeks x

I hate the term chemical pregnancy. Implies it was insignificant but to me a miscarriage is a miscarriage

I tested positive for quite a few weeks after my miscarriage. It takes a while for the hormones to leave your body I think.

LW678 · 23/02/2024 19:20

@Cariadxx I feel exactly the same, having gone through it myself people love to tell me how lucky I am it was so early!

@Cariadxx @LW678 I'm with you ladies.
@Lou0811 I'm not really sure as you still test positive for a little while following MC but if you were already bleeding then potentially the loss could have started a lot earlier. Don't take my word for it though Ive only got my own experiences to go on and I stayed away from hospitals and midwives as much as I could.
Sorry for your loss though sweet. Take care of yourself 💐💐

I hate the phrase too. Completely minimises pregnancy loss. Miscarriage is miscarriage, and it’s shit whatever stage the pregnancy got to.

OP - 💐It can take up to 6 weeks for HCG to drop back down to base levels. Until this happens, pregnancy tests will still be positive. It’s why certain tests can’t be performed until 6 weeks after pregnancy (I was under the recurrent miscarriage clinic and any blood tests etc had to wait until 6 weeks after at the earliest).

For me personally it’s always taken about 2 weeks from the point I’ve physically passed all the pregnancy tissue to get a negative test. If you are still testing positive after 2 weeks you should go back to the EPU as it could mean that the miscarriage isn’t complete. So sorry this has happened to you, it really is unfair x

Morning all,

thanks for such lovely, kind comments.

just wanted to add, I done 2 home pregnancy tests after the clear blue and both were a definate negative. They were the very cheap tests.

got to go back for more bloods tomorrow. Xx
