Swelling after Ectopic Pregnancy

2 weeks ago I had surgery to remove my Fallopian tube after an ectopic pregnancy ruptured. I’m recovering but my stomach still looks swollen/ bloated. When would you expect this to go down? It’s causing me such anxiety/ misery to look the way I do. I just want my body back now.

I had a surgically-managed ectopic nearly five years ago now.

The swelling took a few weeks to go down, but I remember finding it so upsetting too. I worried I looked like I was pregnant and it just felt so cruel.

Apparently they need to pump in air during the op and I believe it just takes time to find its way back out again.

I’m sorry this has happened to you. Wishing you a speedy recovery

I think I just thought I would be better by now. 2 weeks later and I look no less bloated. I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests and my head is scrambled. I wish there was a definitive by X date you will be back to normal.

It’s a really shit thing to go through: the loss, how scary it can be, and the recovery time afterwards.

I really struggled afterwards and had some individual therapy, but also went to some support groups with the Miscarriage Association. Both were so helpful.

Did your Dr say to return for a checkup if you were still testing positive by a certain point?

Hi, it went down probably after about 6 weeks and quite slowly at that. Take care of yourself @Mrsrmcc
