Hey all

i am currently 8 weeks pregnant and have started to pass what looks like brown blood

i had a scan last at 5 weeks and no heartbeat was detected but we assumed it was too early

i have no pain except a bad back. Am I losing the baby? I had a miscarriage over 10 years ago now and can’t remember (probably blocked it out) and a missed miscarriage back in 2020. I’ve not successfully had any children yet.

i have my 8 week scan tomorrow but I’m so on edge of just like to know any opinions

is there any point in having hope tomorrow?

Hi - ive been throught 3MC and know your pain when seeing blood. The best thing you can do is call the early pregnancy unit. They may even try to see you today. Explain your history to them.

Spotting can happen, and it may just be that. It is also very normal not to see a heartbeat at 5 weeks. Thats more from 6 weeks.

Wishing you all the best.

Thank you for responding to me. Sorry you’ve been through that too xx

they said unless is heavy bleeding they will see me tomorrow. I don’t want to take an emergency appointment from someone who might really need it if I’ve got one in the morning

do you think the brown means it’s old though and I probably lost the baby a couple of weeks ago? Xx

Bleeding doesn't mean you've lost the baby, though.

Good that you have a scan booked tomorrow. I hope it gives you comfort and clarity.

5 weeks would be too early for cardiac activity I think

Daisies12 · 15/01/2024 14:54

The only way you can know is having the scan. When I miscarried it started with 3 days of brown blood. But I know others who spotted throughout and had healthy babies.

Try to stay positive and dont try to look things up online, you will stress yourself out and thats not good for you. Old blood doesn't mean you've already lost the baby, its old from an earlier period and your body is just cleaning. As long as you are not bleeding onto a pad and it gets fully really quickly ( i think its 1or2 hours), you will be fine.

I know your pain and until you are having your scan tomorrow you will be feeling like you're going through hell, but this wont be good for your wellbeing. Try to stay distracted.

Sending positive vibes xx

The waiting is horrible, I've been there too. At least you will know tomorrow either way so just try keep busy/distracted.

Just remember there is nothing you can google or look up online that will give you the answer - only your scan tomorrow will tell you what's happening.

Bleeding in early pregnancy can be caused by a few things. I've had heavy fresh bleeding with large clots in early pregnancy and went on to have a normal pregnancy and healthy baby. But in another pregnancy, I had no bleeding at all and turned out I had miscarried. So anything is possible when it come to early pregnancy!

Wish you well for your scan

Unfortunately I lost my baby today

I was actually 12+1

hoping I don’t need medical intervention

seems this one has been completely different to the others, maybe it’s because I’m older. Don’t know if we are going to try again

Im so sorry, hun. I'm thinking of you. For now, just focus on you and don't think about the future or make decisions about the future yet.

Sending you a really big hug xx

I am currently 10 weeks pregnant and am having heavy bleeding but no pain for 2 days now. Has anyone experienced heavy bleeding in early pregnancy but still went on to have a successful pregnancy? At the moment all I can think is that I am miscarriage.

Roxcrose · 17/01/2024 18:03

My heavy bleeding came with really painful cramps. I do believe you can have heavy bleeding go on to have a healthy baby as the ladies have said above

please contact your midwife anyway. Hope all is ok x
