Hi everyone! I am new to mumsnet but looking for a bit of advice from anybody who may have experienced similar. On the 23rd December I experienced a spontaneous miscarriage at 11.5 weeks. I bled a lot during this, so much so that I was taken to hospital via ambulance. I was scanned at hospital and told that I had passed the baby but had more ‘product’ still to come. I went home that day and the following day had another episode of severe cramping and blood loss. During this episode I passed a lot more which I assumed was what was seen to be remaining during the scan. The hospital have been great and have done repeated blood tests each week. The HCG results have been as follows- 3000, 999, 546 and last Sunday it was 145. I have another blood test tomorrow. My concern is that I am still bleeding (albeit very lightly) and I am still getting a faint positive result on a home pregnancy test. Is this normal? Or should everything have started to clear up by the 3 week mark? Should I pushing for another scan to check for rpoc?
i just want all of this to be over now so that I can find a way to move on!

Hi lovely xx I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm going through the same, mine was an MMC at a 7 week scan on the 20th of November. It was an IVF pregnancy so I was still on medication way after it failed which means everything was kept in and my body took a while to realise. My hCG is coming down very slowly and I've had 3 quite nasty, shall we say, expulsions. The third one left me quite unwell but not enough to need hospital treatment. I'm still sporadically bleeding, but hCG can take a while to come down. Some cases can go on for months, some can go on for just a few weeks. Your body will eventually expel the rest on its own, but if you want to move on faster, push for medical management or surgical management.

Thank you so much for your reply! I’m so sorry hear about your experience. Life just feels so cruel sometimes. Hopefully it might just be that my body is taking a little longer for HCG levels to come down. I don’t have any signs of infection so I’m not overly worried. I really hope that things work out for you soon! ❤
