Hey, so I was supposed to be 12 weeks pregnant but on Friday I started bleeding.
By Saturday it had picked up with clots. I wasn't sure what to do as it was new years weekend so I managed to book a private scan for Sunday. This is where they told us that the babies heartbeat had stopped at 8 weeks 4 days.
By last night the pain became quite strong and then contractions began. I had to hide upstairs because my 3 year old was having her tea and my incredible husband was running up and down the stairs trying to look after me and to make everything seem as normal as possible for her. After 40 minutes of contractions I felt a gush of blood and ran to the toilet where I passed what I thought was the complete pregnancy. It looked like a very large blood clot about 4.5-5 inches in size. The pain was intense and I nearly passed out on the bathroom floor. 20 minutes after passing everything the pain had stopped. I bled quite a bit but everything calmed down.

So this is where my question comes in. Just before bed it felt like there was something stuck in my vagina but I couldn't find it and I was just so tired I went to bed. About an hour after waking up this morning I had a bowel movement and I found something sticking out of my vagina, I had to pull out a large piece of grey tissue. It measured about 3 inches. Does anyone have any idea what this was? I'm assuming that I didn't completely pass the pregnancy? Or is this quite normal?
I've got an appointment with epu tomorrow but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this?

Hi, I’m so so sorry for your loss. I’ve had 4 miscarriages and what you have described sounds like the pregnancy as it was grey tissue. Sometimes it doesn’t come out all at once, I’ve had miscarriages that did in the sac and others as you’ve described. The EPU will be able to see if you’ve passed everything with the scan x
