Growth Hormone in IVF

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any experience of the use of growth hormones in conjuction with IVF. Our IVF doctor says there is research to suggest it has better odds in preventing miscarriage but I've yet to really look into it. At another £750, we're erring on the side of not getting it unless it really looks worth it. Thanks!

Look at the HFEA traffic lights. If it isn't green (or at least Amber) I wouldn't bother. We're with Oxford and they don't do that.

Second the suggestion to look at HFEA website and Information on treatment add ons. If it's not on the list or not green, evidence for its use may be sketchy.

Hi @clhsgirl when is your dr suggesting you take it?
we used it on my last FET cycle alongside mild stimulation. I was advised it could help with lining growth. It didn’t help with lining and I miscarried at around 7 weeks. I did have more follicles though . I hope this helps!

Also should add I’ve read lots about it helping with egg quality. Are you doing a collection /fresh cycle?

@Rubyroo1984 I'm so sorry it didn't help for you. I'm doing a collection and I believe the GH will be in conjunction with the stims. My doctor suggested it as we've had two miscarriages since starting IVF. I don't have issues with my lining but wondering if our doctor suspects egg quality issues as one of my miscarriages was a blighted ovum discovered at my 7 weeks scan. I do have high NK cells so also being treated for that. If we end up having a healthy baby, I won't know what helped but I am sure I won't care by that point!

@clhsgirl i was wondering what your outcome was if you don’t mind me asking, as my IVF consultant is encouraging GH for my next cycle too (I am already on DHEA) I couldn’t see it on the HEFA site as suggested by others on this thread. I am dubious as research not clear.

( I have added in Redlight therapy for this cycle at a clinic in London)

We ended up not using it for our 2nd cycle (decided my lining has always been very good at transfer so decided at the time it was probably not necessary) but the cycle was not successful. We ended up with only two low-quality embryos which were transfered on Day 3 and did not implant. We are going to be using it next time however as it is our final cycle and just want to throw everything at it. Sorry I couldn't be more help but happy to chat if you'd like a friend for your next cycle. I am awaiting the results of a repeat cytokine test (I have high NK cells and TNF-Alpha treated with hydroxychloroquine and humira among others) and will be starting a long protocol with decapeptyl hopefully in a couple of weeks.
